Hi this is my first post on Khmer440. Forgive me if this has been asked and answered elsewhere, (I did try to search), but I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice about customs duty regarding bringing household items to Cambodia.
My wife and I are moving to Siem Reap, and we want to have a small number of items shipped from Korea. Bed, sofa, table, musical instruments, kitchen stuff etc. The information I've found about the duty is that it is 'between 0-35% including shipping cost' plus 10% 'sales tax'. I've also read that for this reason some people chose to come to Cambodia with a suitcase and start from scratch.
Can anyone give me an idea about how the duty is calculated? I.e. what kind of duty I might be looking at.

I believe the official duty on used household items is 0%. Tried to confirm that with the logistics company that advertises here but they didn't bother to answer.
Arriving with just a suitcase and buying what you need is probably simpler unless you have a lot, or very special, stuff.

Check with Youngwill, he is currently doing a container of his stuff down at Sihanoukville.
My experience is its up to customs on the day, if they are in a good mood or not (or how much they have already made that day)
How good your connections are
Do you have a Khmer family
Too many variables to list.....
