Moving to Phnom Penh = location question

Hello

I'm going to be moving to Phnom Penh from Phuket at the end of May. I have had visits to Cambodia before but I stayed in Siem Reap mostly. I haven't been to Phnom Penh, but now that I am moving over I have decided that is the best place for me not Siem Reap.

I have been searching online and have narrowed down where I think I will live to the area south of the main tourist area. Can anyone tell me about the Russian Market area? Pros and Cons of living in that area from the perspective of a resident? I am lucky enough to work from home, so being able to travel through traffic in the mornings is not important to me.

thank you

^Not anymore.

Toul Tom Poung is a great place to live, very quiet at night, rent is still fairly cheap, plenty of grocery shopping options including the market, several decent eateries, minimal to no flooding in the wet season, a few quiet bars, plenty of eye candy, a few gyms and swimming pools, and not too far from the city centre and Riverside as long as you avoid peak hour traffic.

Hi again

Toul Tom Poung. Okay. I thought it might be quieter and have better value for money with the accommodation. Would you recommend any streets be avoided at all, PSD_Kiwi?

And if I am living alone will I easily find accommodation that isn't too big? I don't want to have to pay for a big apartment. Also I am okay if it is not fully westernised apartment. I have been looking on Facebook for properties but perhaps I should stay in a Guesthouse locally when I arrive so I can look properly before agreeing to rent.

Is there a Guesthouse someone would recommend to me in the area?

Thank you for taking the time. You must get the same questions all the time but I could not get the search function to work. Maybe I need to be a member for a longer time for it to work.

If you ride a motto I can highly recommend Boueng Tumpun. Rent is half that of Russian market yet it's only five minutes away.

A motto, ricecakes.

what sort of motto would that be?
We never had to take any of it seriously, did we?
or maybe something along the lines of ...
I live my life for my best purposes and expect and demand nothing different from others?
what did you have in mind, ricecakes?

(apologies to the OP that I can't offer much advice regarding the Russian market area)

edit: bloody mottos.
