Fav phnom penh seadfood street stall?
Hey can anyone recommend me a seadfood stall ( not a restaurant) somewhere near the riverside? Somewhere cheap please.,
cheap+street food+ seafood+riverside=bad idea
anyway define cheap...
in aeon on ground floor at the food court you will find some cheap seafood anytime. if you want to be real cheap without risking to get sick after 8.30 pm sushi is half price and i guess 2 people should eat their fill with 9$ add 2 drinks and 10$~ is enough. way better than street food at least you enjoy the ac and a proper chair.
or at one of the many shabu shabu 9.5$ gets youa buffet of all kind of food including crab fishes and squids. drinks included. but the quality is meh...
at caravan they offer at happy hour large fresh oysters at 1 $ each. 16~20$ gets you enough for 2.
at lunch you can get a glass of withe wine and salmon fish for 8$.

Thanks but im looking for local street stalls out in the open. i know this can sound very dangerous and thats precisely why i wanted to get soem infop from the locals or expats first.
In the end it is quite expensive as you are hooked on an IV as a result of your extreme case of food poisoning.

On a quest such as yours I would consume a handful of Codeine & a Z-Pack or 2 as a prophylactic measure.
Just don't wear red and you should be ok from a crips driveby....i know this can sound very dangerous'''''

Eaten a fair bit at the place on st13 by Wat Ounalom (top of 172). Never had any issues with prawns, crabs and squid.

if you really want to do it go around and find any place that is packed full of local people, the more the better at least if they have many costumers the food must must be quite good and cheap and hopefully fresh (because of the steong turnover). if you eat near a market go around 12 lunch time but after locals that eat at 11. this way you will have better chances to not be eating old fish from yesterday or todays market leftovers as is often the case in the evening. avoid the small salted snails because they are river food and often just slightly cooked.I heard if you buy the fish yourself and bring it to one of the street restaurant near the market they will cook it for you for a fee.

Is there a name or how would be able to identify it?
End of 172 (direction river) take a left and look at the opposite side of the street. It's a big row of tents next to the wat's outside wall. The seafood on ice in big metal trays is a bit of a giveaway.casper129q wrote:pedros wrote:Eaten a fair bit at the place on st13 by Wat Ounalom (top of 172). Why would you not go to the "cleaner" establishment to eat?

I don't ever think of these things as sea-food stalls, because we're nowhere near the sea and I don't really know half the time where the stuff comes from. The ones I know aren't really geared towards eating right there, although they might have some plastic stools suited for kindergarten size and an ABG/123 folding table.
Anyway, on the 155 432 corner just a block north of "Russian Market" they sell some good barbecued mackerels and some other fat fish with white flesh and skin that looks pink before it gets cooked. They can be pretty tasty and they only cost $3 small/ $5 large with sauce and salad and a ridiculous amount of leaves that I never eat. I haven't actually eaten one in a long time but might soon. They sell similar fish in other places but somehow that's the corner many locals I know prefer.
