how to get an ordinary tourist visa (not e-visa)
how to get an ordinary tourist visa (not e-visa)
I apologize for asking this question on a visa. But I read over the previous messages and still am uncertain.
I am in Cebu, Philippines and will go to Phnom Penh the end of the month. I am retired and may stay months. If I arrive on a e-visa obtained online I will have to leave Cambodia to get an ordinary visa for an extention. The e-visa can not be extended. It is inconvenient to have to leave Phnom Pehn just to get a new visa. I would have to fly to Bangkok or get a Vietnam visa and go there.
Yet it is my understanding I can not board a flight to Cambodia without having an entry document, the e-visa or an actual visa.
To date I can not find a travel agent in Cebu who will obtain an ordinary Cambodia visa for me. They all tell me to get the e-visa.
Any suggestions? Thanks

1) Buy e-visa from internet and do trip outside country to get Ordinary (E) visa.JJones wrote:Any suggestions? Thanks
2) Take two different flights (not same ticket). 1st flight to Bangkok and 2nd from Bangkok to Phnom Penh, they shouldn't ask visa, get Ordinary visa from Phnom Penh airport (35$+photo).
Do you have Philippine passport?
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.

Where are you getting this info? I thought it was well known that Cambodia does provide visas on arrival. I, and many others I know personally, have had no problems flying into Cambodia without purchasing a visa prior to departure. Not having a return ticket can be another story though.JJones wrote:

Have you contacted the airline or someone at the airport?

Thanks for the replies. I have a Canadian passport and will fly to Phnom P from Singapore. I will check with Jetstar and ask if they require a visa to board. Thanks again.

Jetstar staff know. I usually fly Jetstar, once was asked by the check-in chick and she was happy with me saying Cambo has visa-on-arrival.JJones wrote:Thanks for the replies. No one requires a visa to board a flight to Cambodia. No one. Many airlines will require an online ticket within 30 days, or at least will question you about when you plan to leave, and you should tell them you plan to leave in thirty days and be prepared to show them proof of that.JJones wrote:Thanks for the replies. I just confirmed with Jetstar travelling from Australia to Cambodia. No onward or return ticket is required.

Not quite true GM, Citizens of several countries require pre-arranged visas as they are not eligible for VOA, Canadians however are eligible for VOA'S so the OP is not required to pre-arrange one.
For more info on visas see the thread in essential information sub forum...

That's why I said many airlines and not all airlines. How did you confirm that the Jetstar check in staff won't require this? Don't tell me you're relying on the opinion of a call center agent. There are various reports online about Jetstar cockblocking passengers from boarding flights to Thailand and Vietnam due to no onward ticket. If the OP wants to take the risk, that's up to him.Don-Pierre de Plume wrote:Not correct, GavinMac.gavinmac wrote: No one requires a visa to board a flight to Cambodia. No one. According to you, if you plan to spend a year in Cambodia you need to tell the airline you are leaving within one month and show an outgoing ticket. Is that how all the expat teachers do it??? That would be stupid.
Of course, for long-term stay it would be wise to bring some evidence of the purpose of the visit for whatever reason. But that's not your argument.
