I had a visa fall out of my current passport. After much deliberation of the matter, I came up with a magnificent idea; I glued it back in.

Yes, but did you use Pritt stick, or a stronger industrial type glue? Or a glue and staple combo?

We are not allowed to make any changes in our passports. Once I got told off (at Melbourne Airport) for highlighting a few dates on various stamps.

So glueing back in is definately an illegal activity... :eyes:

But no visa stickers from Cambodia have "fallen out."

I believe that they will suspect you have deliberately removed the pages in order to: (a) save the time and expense of renewing your passport, or (b) deceive Cambodian authorities or possibly other countries about your travel history and where you have been living and what you have been up to. They may also see all your missing visas as an attempt to avoid work permit back fees.

I think you should be polite and apologetic, don't blame their glue, try to explain why stickers keeping falling out of your passport but not others, and bring a toothbrush and daybag in case your visa isn't renewed and/or you are tossed in immigration lockup for a while.
My most recent Cambodian 1 year visa is hanging by a thread. The older ones are fine, go figure. But yes, the glue is shit and yes, Cambodian visas seem to fall out quite easily.

Happened to me not so long ago, visa came loose and luckily I put it in my passport folder. The immigration officer saw it was missing and asked what happened, I said it came off and then produced it undamaged. He stated how very lucky you are and then stapled it back in.
Don't know what the consequence would've been if I didn't have the older visa sticker but he looked pissed off.

Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Both of my most recent Cambodian visas (one temporary, one annual) have come completely off the page as a result of the shit glue they use. In both cases I stapled it back in. But there is a definite and real issue with the glue.

Having said that, they most definitely don't like people using the page after and deliberately stamp all visas so that part of the ink goes onto the passport page so you can't do a dodge like this. They take it very seriously.

At a wild guess an appointment with immigration in PP with $70 in your pocket?

Yes, the glue they use does suck and stapling does make sense.

Last time I went to my country I noticed my last (current) visa came loose 100%. I tried to glue it back, but when I opened it on the plane to fill in the arrival documents it fell out again. To be honest it made me sweat a bit on the plane.

I went to the visa counter in Pochentong and explained the problem to them. They simply stapled the visa in my passport, free of charge, so my guess is the quality of the glue must be known by some of the staff at immigration. The fact I pointed it out to them, instead of some officer detecting it, made things easier I guess.

After I saw them do that I simply stapled all my other Cambodian visa.

May I ask what country issues your passport? Perhaps if your passport is issued by an obscure country with crappy paper, that could explain why your stickers fall out when others' do not.
modric wrote:And maybe some of you guys quick to jump on my throat about deliberately removing them haven;t been to many other places than Cambodia because the quality in glue is definitely cheap shit compared to what other places that use stickers like vietnam, indonesia, Saudi, Oman etc. use. I've only started going to Cambodia in the last 3 years and I have ones from 8 years back still firmly in and no sign of coming loose. Sure I should have put them back in but seriously they use cheap shit compared to the ROW. Go to other countries and see for yourself.
Just about all of us have been to other countries. My Cambodian visas are no more or less sticky than the my full page visas from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Iran, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Uzbekistan, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Pakistan, and South Sudan. I haven't noticed any problem with "cheap Cambodian glue," but in any event I don't think that's a good argument to pursue with Cambodian immigration officials.
You seem a bit defensive about Camboidian glue....and you have a lot of posts on a Cambodian forum in a short time...sorry If I offended your country. Like the other posters all acknowledge that this glue is a lot worst than all the other countries but you seem pretty adamant it isn't. I think you are a bit bias in your judgement for my reasons above and if you had actually been to half those places than you'd know that what they use to stick in those visas are a lot different to what they use for the Cambodian ones...just saying.
So you believe gavinmac is Khmer? And are you sure he's been on this forum a "short time"? Maybe you should check again. I've never met him, but I'd be willing to bet that he's been to all those places, and more (he didn't mention Fire Island, but I don't know what country it's in...not that there's anything wrong with that!) You seem to make a lot of assumptions. How's that working out for you? Good luck with immigration! Make sure that you point out all of the flaws in their ministry and the country in general, not just the glue. They love that.[/quote]

Are you his rent boy?

edit: he's got 16k posts on a Cambodian forum and yes I misread how long he's been member for but still none the less to have been coming here for 13 years and he said on just 1 month visas so fuck knows how many passports he had full of them and not noticed the glue or had any issues with any visas from this country.....it's just not possible and yes I know he's not khmer if I was to guess.Id say hes British.

Oh, it's possible. I've got about forty green full page stickers over five different passports. None have fallen out or come loose or even had any corners peel off. It must be the high quality American paper we use in our passports.
