Hi all,
I'm moving to Cambodia in July and my employer asked me for some details so they could write me a letter in order for me to be able to get an E-Visa (business visa). It's fine that they want to write it, but is this really necessary?

It might not be needed but I don't see any reason why you should be reluctant to give your employer the information.

The fact they're actually going to write you a letter of invitation for the visa means they may actually be a legit employer.
Less legit employers simply don't tell you you're meant to have a letter of invitation to give to immigration for the E type visa.

As a follow up, there have been a few sporadic reports of people being hassled on arrival when applying for ordinary/business visas without any documentation. Very rare though, for white/Western person.
If you are from from India or Africa you'll want to bring as much documentation as you can get.

No, there's no issue, just was surprised that they were doing it at all. They have it all, anyway, guess they couldn't be bothered to compile it themselves from my documents already sent. Took me about 2 seconds.gavinmac wrote:It might not be needed but I don't see any reason why you should be reluctant to give your employer the information.
I am, indeed, white and Western. Good for megavinmac wrote:As a follow up, there have been a few sporadic reports of people being hassled on arrival when applying for ordinary/business visas without any documentation. Very rare though, for white/Western person.

Had no doubts they were legit, but fair pointepidemiks wrote:bbarnett wrote:Hi all,

I've heard people on here and Dave's ESL Cafe mention that they had HEARD of this happening, but never any first-hand reports. I arrived here April 26th (my third time coming here) and not only have I never had any problems, upon my arrival this time a captain at the Immigration office processed a one year extension visa for me at the airport in addition to the one month entry visa and had it delivered to where I'm staying.
