Newbie seeks friends and help
Hello people my name is John and I'm from the United States. I'm packing up everything and moving to Cambodia to start a new adventure in the next 3 weeks and I was hoping to find some cool people who could show me around. I need some help looking for a job teaching English and I want to settle in and plan to spend a few years in Cambodia. Yeah that might sound crazy but I did the exact same thing in China and spent 10 years there. I'll even open my own martial arts school there in Beijing. Now I'm ready for some new fun. I have a bachelor's degree and a tefl. Don't care if I make too much money just enough to have a decent life and have some fun but it's a little bit scary packing up and going to a new country I've done it before but it will be a lot better if I had a few people that could kind of show me around a little bit
Welcome!
Playboy is the man, he loves helping out Teflers in distress.I was hoping to find some cool people who could show me around. I need some help looking for a job teaching English and I want to settle in and plan to spend a few years in Cambodia

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Moving to Phnom Penh to teach English really isn't a crazy adventure. Thousands of Westerners have been pouring into Cambodia recently with the same plan.

Moving to Cambodia is a great idea. Moving to Cambodia to teach English...not so much...
You might find that doing almost any other work is preferable to teaching English given the pay scale, so I would recommend looking at different types of work as well as teacher gigs.

Not sure what you meant by your Martial Arts comment, but if you're looking to do Martial Arts in Phnom Penh, Prokout is a good gym for Kickboxing and BJJ, and there's also the new H/Art bjj academy in Phnom Penh, as well. Good group of guys training at both places.
