Converting to 6 month visa, how long does it take?
Hi, I'm new to this forum and actually live in Chiang Mai but I need a Russian visa and for that visa I'll need a 6 month or longer visa in the country I'm applying in. I'm not able to get a 6 month Thailand visa, so getting a 6 month Cambodian business visa is a viable option and then I would get the Russian visa in Cambodia. My understanding is that on arrival in Cambodia I will be given a one month visa which I can then convert to a 6 month business visa inside Cambodia, can I convert the one month visa to 6 months immediately and how long would the process take? I really appreciate any advice, thanks!

Just get an ordinary visa on arrival. It's for one month and can be extended for six months. Go to an agency a few days before the one month visa expires, give them some passport photos and money. A few day's later you'll have your six month visa. It might be a bit more complicated if you are from one of those countries where most of the people are not white.
You don't have to wait for the 1 month visa to near expiry, you can apply immediately. If you fly in to PP you may well find an official at the airport who will do it that day and deliver it to your hotel all for a helper's fee.
Current express fee for 12 month extension within 24 hours of obtaining ordinary visa is $80 at Lucky, 6 month presumably similar. Otherwise 4 days.
Or $100 for same day turnaround.MaxB wrote:Current express fee for 12 month extension within 24 hours of obtaining ordinary visa is $80 at Lucky, 6 month presumably similar. Otherwise 4 days.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Just to add, the 6 or 12 month visa's can only be renewed on the last month before expiry, they won't renew these anytime beforehand...but you knew this.prahocalypse now wrote:Just get an ordinary visa on arrival. Never mind.
I was a little bit worried one time as i forgot the date and my friend had told me you need a week to get it done.
However when i got the passport back the visa stated that it was issued only the day efter i left it to the agency.
Left it thursday, issued friday, got it back tuesday.
