You won't find much concrete in Dutch river dikes as 95% of them were built before the re-invention of concrete, even the 30K long dike that created a large freshwater lake in the center of our country was made using natural materials.Jacked Camry wrote:Visser - there's a lot of different factors when it comes to slope stabilization on dikes. But I'm reasonably sure that the ones in your country (Netherlands I assume) are pretty seriously engineered and contain a fair amount of concrete and other materials.
None but ourselves can free our mind.

Jackrossi,
I know there is currently Dam-gate going on but I was wondering, have you considered sub-pontoons?
They would work with and not against the mighty river
Be a hole load cheaper
Allow utilisation of the lower area
Just a thought

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

The land that jackrossi is interested in is NOT on the 'mighty Mekong'.

Will there be the same flood events with the reduced flow rates created by the hydroelectric dams upriver in the future . It may be that flooding will sadly not be a problem anymore.Furthermore , because Cambodia does not prevent flooding in most of the country it is much easier to defend your land as so many others don't it will breach somewhere else, just have materials ready incase you need to patch up parts .
