An interesting report I've found a while ago.
And yes, I've been drinking tab water in PP without any problems. I guess it depends completely on the area you get the water from.

Could that be already filtered water and a chemically cleaned hose?Captain Bonez wrote:

Haha - my money’s on Playboy
We're all still alive with our variations of tap/Evian/Fiji/mass hose pipe Hi-Tech/etc, I suggest we go to K440 DEFCON 2 at this point in time until somebody keels over

Does anyone have a good source on the results on the human body of constantly drinking mineral free water?
I notice from the diagram on the first page that there's no distilling or reverse osmosis (both remove minerals from water) in the PP water process so the water should be mineralised.
Hi-Tek uses reverse osmosis (I get their 20l bottles too as I'm not confident of the pipes in my building) so that's pretty much stripped of all minerals and I doubt they remineralise after - are there any consequences for those of us who drink it all the time?
I can't find a good source through Google, I can find the following but it's not backed up and is being said by a guy trying to sell reverse osmosis equipment:

It's true that RO units remove minerals—about 95% of the mineral content anyway—but he isn't really telling you the whole story.
The mineral issue is probably the most controversial question in drinking water purification. Experts on both sides of the issue speak convincingly.
My own view, after reading much of the expert opinion, is that the mineral content of water—either high or low—isn't nearly as important as they would have you believe. That is, minerals in water are inorganic and hard for your body to use. You get most of your minerals from food, which provides organic, easily assimilated minerals.
The human body is a sophisticated instrument capable of adapting to a wide range of circumstances and capable of thriving in areas having water of high or low mineral content. As long as water is palatable, it's within the body's acceptable range.
The main issue with water is chemicals, not minerals. Whether water contains 30 or 3 parts per million calcium isn't really significant, but the difference between 0.5 and 5 parts per million chloroform is of life or death importance.

Might not answer your inquiry, I lived in the boonie over half a year drinking unfiltered rain water from the roof gutter and doing just fine apart from occasional diarrhea.
EVERYONE BOW DOWN TO HIS MAJESTIES phat kunthea™
From WHO on dangers of demineralized water. Drink the friggin tap water unless there is an obvious contamination from the pipes.

I would suggest the natural mineral water of Eau Kulen. It's real, healthy mineral water, and has a very "soft taste" to it. Those are the best words I can use to describe it. The price is only $0.65 or $0.75 on the Riverside I would guess for a 1.5L bottle. Very cheap for near-Evian quality mineral water here in Cambodia.MONEYBACKGUARANTEE wrote:Evian. Problem solved.
So far, no scandals on copies of Kulen water, AFAIK. Really, really, good quality product and business in Cambodia! Supposedly rich in calcium and magnesium, but whatever, the taste is good!
I like finding truly good products in Cambodia, this is one of them!
At those prices, I'm tempted to cook and bathe in it, haha! I need a big water container of it, or move to SR next to the springs, haha.

Having recently purchased fake 400R razor blades and fake Melita coffee filters I'm convinced there's nothing that isn't subject to fakery in the KOW.TristranandIsolde wrote:I would suggest the natural mineral water of Eau Kulen. Is it Pasteur (http://www.pasteur-kh.org/) where you can get a sample of your tap water tested for a modest fee?

Not sure it is modest. When I worked at a hotel here, we tested the water and food samples every 6 months and it cost a few hundred Dollars each time.1984 wrote:Is it Pasteur (http://www.pasteur-kh.org/) where you can get a sample of your tap water tested for a modest fee?
