Where's all the bloody Marmite/Vegemite!
Where's all the bloody Marmite/Vegemite!
In SHV there's a serious shortage of Marmite and Vegemite (I like both but Marmite is easier to spread).
Tried Sumerdera, Orange supermarkets and that one next to KFC. Nuffink!
Whilst in Sumerdera I noticed maybe why: full of Chinese... And me. Maybe they have decided to stop selling it?
Anyhoo. Is there plenty of the stuff in PP, Super Douper maybe?
I've had to do with Mighty-Might crap but it's better than nothing I guess.

Plenty of both in Thai Hout St 63. They even had the Cheesy Vegemite in there a while back.

It's not just the Aussies. The South Africans recently introduced this little gem.

And these from the Brits (although it's actually a US company now)
I purchased UK Marmite once, thinking it would be the same as Aussie/Kiwi Marmite/Vegemite...oh how wrong I was
Those pineapple tim tams look alright, probably just like pineapple lumps.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
I'd try that Guinness one...hell I'd try any right now!

No, they are crap. Supermarkets in Australia have to practically give them away.PSD_Kiwi wrote:I purchased UK Marmite once, thinking it would be the same as Aussie/Kiwi Marmite/Vegemite...oh how wrong I was

Nothing wrong with the originals though, but of course, like with anything decent from that cursed place, Australians exaggerate their worth.

First time I encountered Vegemite was in New Zealand in the old days...
I thought it was some equivalent of chocolate paste and put it on thick...

As a recent Aussie transplant in Thailand, I was curious to find Tim Tams for less than Australia in Tesco Lotus, the indignation was only hightened to discover they were actually made in Indonesia, meaning that the ingredients are cheap and nasty palm derivatives. Weasel words use 'vegetable oil' to disguise heart-stopping palm grease.
Arnotts (ex-Australian company BTW) are not the only culprits, Mars, Cadbury, etc etc all market inferior product to Asia, whereas Australian consumers enjoy Cadburys made in either Tassie or Dunedin NZ from real dairy products, not palm grease. This is not because these billionaire giants are nice folks, they are obliged to not alter the ingredients by law!
Having said that, I would be curious to check the back of that Tim Tam monstrosity, to confirm where it was made, and what is inside the product.
Peace, Lookan.
