Haha, yes, it's called "cupping" and does not have to do with two-handed pleasuring.
Michael Phelps does it, and so do many other high-level athletes. Perhaps picked up from their time in China 2008?
Supposed to help breathing (supposed to pull phlegm from behind the chest) and aid recovery. I can see how Phelps would want that.
Any REPUTABLE cupping technicians? I know it's completely unproven, etc., and that many charlatans and wannabes abound, much like acupuncture. (I have never trusted an acupuncturist in Cambodia, but Vietnam has some good ones). The recent physios and chiros seem good though.
Anyone know a good place to get this cupping done? Phone number ok too, you can send by PM.
Also included is the related moxibustion, which is the burning of herbs at certain parts of the body. (Burns can happen though).
Cupping is inexpensive and can't hurt, just give you some pepperoni-looking bruises for a while.
By the way, do you know how long those bruises last?

They last several days. Itch like hell too. There's a couple of places around the corner, if I can remember I'll take a pic of their sign for you .TristranandIsolde wrote:Haha, yes, it's called "cupping" and does not have to do with two-handed pleasuring.

Thank you kindly, but do I want to go to the place around the corner? Are they all somewhat basic? I don't mind, if they practitioner is skilled.
Don't want to be surprised, that's all. I do appreciate pointing it out, however.

They're everywhere, and I doubt an expensive place would have much more knowledge than your local 10 000 risk grandma. You know it's unproven, yet want a "reputable" place, whatever that means. It's not like any of them go to some school on a hilltop to learn the secret art of cupping. Just go to any massage parlour and try it out, it won't kill you.
Moxibustion is easy to self-administer. I bought an entire box of sticks for $5 from a Chinese herbalist near O'Russey market. A cupping set cost me about $17 from the new market, good quality too. Practitioners here adopt the blunderbuss approach, blanket coverage usually of only the back. A good Chinese doctor will specify a few areas on the front and back. I don't know of any in Cambodia. Once you have had it done once by someone good (in China or USA), take a note of the spots and have your significant other do it for you at home.
