Bars for a pub crawl
Bars for a pub crawl
Dear 440 crew,
We have been here for a couple of weeks now and decided it is time to get to know more bars and spots to hang out. Living close to BKK1, it is quite easy to fall into some sort of routine and to just end up going to st 278, Bassac Lane (although I am not a big fan) etc.
There must be loads of places in the riverside/central market area that are worth exploring. Same goes for the Russian market/Tuol Sleng neighborhood. There might even be cool places in BKK we don`t know yet (sth. like Zepplin Bar for example). No fancy new places or cocktail bars. We are looking for lively places that have some history to them.
any recommendations for places or even a possible route? Don`t worry. This is no commercial thing or some big ass couch surfing group. just 4 friends that want to get smashed and have a good time.
Cheers.

yes it does. but a place like Heart of Darkness is not really worth visiting these days, is it? There must be other places though. I like Howies when we were here four years ago. The guy who came along couldn't stand to lose and ended up losing 50 bucks over playing pool with the ladies.Joon wrote:Street 51 has history.

ShowBox, Long After Dark, St 172 (Sundance Saloon is cool, Friday music) , St 130 diwn to street 104 has to have something. Scores Sports Bar, Aussie XL, Club Vito (only old school music, no edm Top40) , eating + wine( or spirits) is Bouchon, rooftop bar is Sun n Moon Urban Hotel. Pool drinking is blue lime, boutique 252.

Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.
Is there a specific crowd you're looking for? Or specific pricing, drinks or extra features?aem wrote:yes it does. but a place like Heart of Darkness is not really worth visiting these days, is it? You mentioned NO fancy new bars or cocktail bars so that eliminates most of the pricey wine, cocktail bars that DM listed.
I am looking for places that are somewhat alive with people. I cant stand it when everybody sits at his table and there is no exchange between random strangers. So maybe more like a pub? Places where you have a pool table,Joon wrote:Is there a specific crowd you're looking for? darts or some sort of dance floor yet still some area where people just hang out and chat. Also maybe a nice Khmer beer garden to start things off. Something with red plastic chairs and pitchers of whatever the local beer ladies are selling.
Good luck with that oneaem wrote: I am looking for places that are somewhat alive with people.

''Exchange between random strangers'' ?? Ooerr.
So like....a gay bar then?
"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
I so don`t give a fuck if its a gay bar or not. we are somewhat new to the city and we want to get to know people and places. so if you tell me that one of the gay bars is actually a cool place to hang out why not go there and have a beer?spitthedog wrote:aem wrote: I am looking for places that are somewhat alive with people. KH works for an afternoon beer but its not an evening venue. Come back Alan (Green Vespa) all is forgiven.Playboy wrote:There used to be bars like that in Phnom Penh, alas we are currently lacking one that is regularly like it now. Several come close on occassion; El Capitan, Box Office, Sundance, but none of them on a regular, daily, basis.
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.
