She is probably desperate to leave India, most smart people there are. OP should explain his poverty clearly to her. Assuming that she actually does like you (nudes notwithstanding), your passport/the freedom of travel that it offers is the only thing you bring to the table. Too many Indians believe in the fallacy (just as they do here) that all gora are wealthy and that the streets are paved with gold in western lands.

Yup. They also get dazzled by western wages, not realising that rice doesn't cost 20 rupees a kilo there.brownexile wrote:She is probably desperate to leave India, most smart people there are. 5. Girl claims to have an existing visa (single or multi entry). Asking some sucker on dating site to buy her a ticket to visit him while in reality she meets someone else at the airport. Guess you might call this the 'Third Party Scam'.jackrossi wrote:As Gavin said there is a common scam
step 1
create online relationships with as many man as possible (each one of them believing it's the only one)
2
ask money for visa/plane/extra for meet your sweet heart
3 pretend to be stuck at immigration when actually never left and suddenly ask for more money (often a grand or more)
4 optional say you have been sent back and say that you are so sorry and try to get money again.
Various versions exist both for ladies and gents

I think that OP has given too much information about his 'girlfriend'. If she were to move here, she'd probably meet barangs who'd ask where she was from. It would only be a matter of time before she met one of the hundreds of people who have viewed this thread. The answer 'Mizoram, India' would lead to the said barang realizing that the classy, conservative, cute, tiny, sharply-dressed woman with a light complexion and speaking perfect English with a British accent was in fact the very woman being discussed on this thread.
I appreciate all the information that you guys have shared with me. The best bet is to fly to Delhi and bring her so now the cost is getting really high and unknown variables. I can't use PayPal here. I have to wire money to the USA to use my card. If I pay in cash it's twice as much. I guyss I can get there by Christmas.brownexile wrote:That's a bit of a stretch... 50 million people live east of the Siliguri corridor inside India. I haven't been to Mizoram but I lived 8 months in Sikkim and explored a fair bit of the rest of the northeast as well- and they are a much more civilized peoples than the brown Indians by every measurable parameter. If the immigration officers were geographically astute they ought to be easier on these people and just waive them thru despite their misfortune in possessing an Indian passport.gavinmac wrote:I think the fact that she would be traveling on an Indian passport but looks Burmese would generate even more suspicion/hassle at airports and border crossings in Thailand and Cambodia. This would have all the flags of sex trafficking to an immigration officer if the OP isn't with her.
My suggestion to the OP is to ensure that she's well funded before embarking on this trip. Taking the bus across Poipet is a terrible idea for a first time traveller and pretty much asking for trouble. Air Asia is probably cheaper anyway.

Why do you have to wire money to the USA to use your credit card? Is your credit card not set up for online banking/payment from a US bank account? If it is, you should have left money in that account to pay the credit card bills.Denny wrote: I appreciate all the information that you guys have shared with me. I think that temperature influences human behavior. Or maybe its altitude. But either way, the colder it gets the more friendly and civilized the population seems to become. I observed the exact same phenomenon in Dalat, Vietnam. A lot less aggressive and scam minded than the rest of the country.

The hotter it gets, the more sexually active people become.
