Hello Everybody
Please excuse this vague approach but I thought you guys would be in the know. Im an experienced, Australian Cameraman/Editor with a range of credentials that I won't bore you with here. I have lived in Thailand and other Asian countries but I've always wanted to do a few years in Cambodia. Im hoping to get involved with as much NGO work as possible but would probably film 'News' programming too. I've been following the political situation in Cambodia from abroad and I know that's never the best way to try and predict what is actually going to happen. Any predictions on if there might be demonstrations or trouble?
I was planning to move mid next year, once I had firmed up a few media contacts but if things are heating up now, then maybe I should hurry?
If I did need to rush then I was thinking I could come over on a 'Regular Visa', then extend or get a work permit in country. Basically try and scramble things together while Im there. I know that sounds chaotic but its worked out for me in the past, although it was in other countries and Im sure Cambodia is different. So any advice you could give on the feasibility of my plan or if you know of anybody that might require my skills, I'd really appreciate the help. I've been working for ratings driven commercial media networks for a long time, I really want to try and do something more worthwhile with my skills.
Kindest regards
Cameraman/Editor moving to Cambodia

There's no big story here that hasn't been covered, and there are a hell of a lot of "correspondents" trying to sell any footage they can snag with their phones. However you might have better skills - if so go for it.
As you mention though, things could be interesting in the run up to next year's Commune Elections and the 2018 General Elections etc. Seems pretty peaceful round here for now...

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
