Hi All,
I don't know downtown Sihanoukville very well. I need to buy a couple pairs of pants, a shirt, etc.
I'm a middle-aged guy. I don't want something trashy looking because it's a couple of dollars less, OTOH, I don't want ridiculously expensive high-end gear.
I just want something decent looking, and fair value for money. In P.P., I'd go to the New Market or Russian Market, they always have what I want.
Is there an equivalent place in Sihanoukville? I know Sumadera supermarket has clothes; I don't think they have pants, though... Does anyone have a suggestion for me?
Thank You
Sihanoukville- Best Place to Buy Clothes?
Pants? , you don't needs pants, just buy 3 sarongs, will do. Use it as a towel also a sheet, and a tablecloth etc.
It's cool to wear sarongs down the beach~~ Cut loose champ ~~

Ppl want alot more money when you hustle here in SHV compared to PP in my experience.
However i dont see the same cheap ripofs here, at the big market, as i see for example in the night market in PP. Im very satisfied with the clothes i buy from the big market. So if you want something good value, not just the cheapest. Maby its exactly the right place for you.
If you come in from main entrance (west side), take first left, then first right and you are in the clothing area.

Sav..are you attending a special event? or, just want to dress to impress? . Serious question.
You really should have brought your threads in Phnom Penh.

Thanks, YaTingPom and Albro, for your advice and the directions! Exactly what I was looking for.Albro wrote:Im very satisfied with the clothes i buy from the big market. Anyone else had the store owners at market in SHV being rude to you? Me and 2 friends walked up to one stand and asked about a shirt, the woman said "we dont have medium". I then pointed at one shirt on display saying that one looks like it would fit. She then started waving saying "Good bye Good Bye". Well rude is not the right word but its like they rather not deal with you at all. Heard from other expats that westerners are not very well liked at this market.
Anyway the cloths I gotten in market were almost all of of poor quality, they all fell apart really fast. I was looking for quality Jeans and shorts but couldt find it. The only thing that seems to be of okey quality are the t-shirts. PP seems like the place to buy cloths.

Yeah, I heard about all that. It's all their fault. I'd have fuck all to do with them myself.Playdoh wrote:Anyone else had the store owners at market in SHV being rude to you? Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Too me it seems like locals in SHV are geniunly unintressted in westerners, even more so the girls that cant be seen with a barang without being seen like prostitute. Making it so that the only girls you will get close to are the varius types of bargirls. The mentality in Siem Reip was very refreshig, locals seemed intressted in befriending us and the front desk girls were flirty.Lucky Lucan wrote:Yeah, I heard about all that. It's all their fault. yeah Psar Leu in Downtown SHV is good, i bought a decent quality white shirt from there, jeans etc etc, decent quality and long lasting,
i dont normally have that many problems there when trying to buy, but i know full well the struggle of trying to find clothes there that will fit barangs,
the majority of shirts are slim asian size and same with the jeans, ive started doing more shopping in PP now tbh
there is one khmer bloke who owns a shirt stall somewhere (no point trying to give directions)
but he has loads of western sized shirts, if anything my shirt could have done with being a size smaller,
you should also wait until the new year, there will be a big market open up where they have the big concert down behind the beach, i bought some good quality shirts from there during the khmer new year, great prices as well
