Takeo Birth Records
Takeo Birth Records
My wife and I sponsor a young lady in Cambodia. She was born in Takeo in 1998 or in 2000. It is unclear. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to obtain birth records or certificates from Takeo. Does anyone have any ideas how to find this out? Thank you.
Birth records are kept at the Sangkat office where the birth is registered.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

It will be tricky if you are in Cambodia. Pretty much impossible if you are not.
Need to find out more specific info about where she was born, knowing the province isn't enough. You need to be more specific and know the district (sangkat) in which she was born.
If you aren't sure which year she was born it could be a long hunt and you may find that the office staff are unlikely to want to help you if you are really vague.

As Khmerhamster pointed out, if you are outside of Cambodia, there is no way you can request a birth certificate.
In addition, even if you are in Cambodia, I do not think that people other than the person, their parents and/or children can request their birth certificates.
You could ask her to send you a photo of her birth certifcate or her family residence book. And Khmer-speaking friends could tell you her birth year.

Yeah I thought about that, but in the UK anyway I think birth records are public domain information (I think...)Joon wrote: In addition, even if you are in Cambodia, I do not think that people other than the person, their parents and/or children can request their birth certificates.
And also in Cambodia there is much less value placed on Data protection
I don't expect you could get a copy of the birth certificate but you could probably snap a picture of the record.
Money talks - I wouldn't be at all surprised if you could easily get the info at the Sangkat office.

I have very good contacts in Takeo City, and would help you if possible.Szad wrote:My wife and I sponsor a young lady in Cambodia. She was born in Takeo in 1998 or in 2000. It is unclear. However, as above, you really won't get anything done in Cambodia if you're abroad.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
