Lucky supermarket vs. Bayon supermarket
What are the pluses and minuses of these supermarkets?
Jesus loves those who love their fans
Lucky on Sihanouk Boulevard has the only Stilton of any Lucky/Bayon/Thai Huot.
Bayon is the only one to stock KP Salted peanuts
Aeon has the only fresh meat of any supermarket
Thai Huot rocks for everything else.

Massive stalker
The bakery department in Lucky supermarket seems to have gone into decline since Tous le Jours took over.
I always used to live their sweet cakes and tarts.

No decent bread at Lucky but they do have fresh chicken breast fillet and chicken legs (and other bits 'we' don't eat).Spigzy wrote:Lucky on Sihanouk Boulevard has the only Stilton of any Lucky/Bayon/Thai Huot.

Yep, even the Lucky supermarket bakery at Takhmau has been taken over by tous le Jours. Their selection is now shit. I would always buy something there for myself and the kids , but have stopped that now.

Tous les jours sucks. I went into the one across from Soriya mall. Four workers touched my baguette with their hands before they even attempted to cut it. I waved them off and walked out.

Situation report..
Bayon market , half empty shelves, most of the mayo is gone, they are raising prices on imported items 10-20%, overall.
My usual 80cent import beer is now $1,
Shall be going elsewhere..

Which one? The Toul Kork Bayon is stocked to the brim & if you're worrying about 20 cents, why are you even shopping at Bayon which tends to be the most expensive of the supermarkets? Many items at Bayon can also be found at Thai Huot at 2/3 the price. E.g. broccoli is $1.5-$2.0 at Bayon, $0.80-$1.50 at Thai Huot, probably peanuts at a local market, but I'll pay the convenience fee.
As I mentioned earlier though, the bigger problem is that some of these shops are the ONLY place to get a particular item; I still tend to shop at three of them, and pick up what I need from each at the best prices.
Sorry Lucky, I can't be arsed to shop at expat central just for one block of Stilton!

I swung into Angkor Mart last week for a few essentials, they had finally restocked all if their shelves, but there seemed to be an almost complete increase in prices of $0.50c- $0.75c per item. Not particularly massive in and of itself, however, if you are doing a medium to large shop there, then the cumulative effect makes a big difference.
P.S. when you can find it, broccoli is about 3,500r per kilo in the local markets. At least it is over here beyond the bridge ...

Just went to the regular backwaters, and everything was the same, still.
The 50-70 percent off items are the only things I buy at Lucky..... From avacados to cheese to meats to canned and bagged items...
milk, chocolate and so on.
A lot of the same items (mayo, Italian dressing...) are on sale at the same time every year.
