I thought it would be cool to visit the ruins around SR on my motorcycle. Is this a good idea? Any problems associated with doing this?

I've passed through in an air-conditioned car so you should be fine. Bring GPS and an extra fan.

It's nice to do, but wear a full-face helmet. Otherwise they might try to stop you when you enter, even though the road around the temples is a public road as far as i know. Don't enter at the main entrance, look for another way in. There's loads. Also bring a good lock. And do not expect to be allowed in at most temples, unless you have a ticket. Most places have guards now watching out for people like youm so don't count on freebies. You'll have to watch from some distance.

I know a back door which I am certain many expats here dont know to cruise around the temples as long as you dont physically try to go inside the temple, you will be asked by the APSARA ticket guards. To be honest, the ticket people dont really give a fuck as they and I hate Sokong with a passion. They are just doing their job.epidemiks wrote:I did it in April, without a ticket. Didn't enter any temple grounds, just rode around the circuit, drank a coconut at a stall, took some photos here and there. Nobody stopped me, but I have heard from SR folk that the rules have since changed.

We were in there for a good 4 hours without a second look from any guard.

Sokimex don't run the ticket concession anymore, it was taken back by the government about a year ago.phat kunthea wrote:To be honest, the ticket people dont really give a fuck as they and I hate Sokong with a passion.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
