Will 2 frozen legs of lamb,in a chilly bin survive an 11 hour flight in check-in baggage, from NZ--KL on Malaysia Airlines, then 2 hour transit, then on to PP with Air Asia?

Hard to say wether they will handle the journey, maybe wrap them in some sort of insulation.

yeah do the dry ice thing and you'll be a winner.
or freeze the fuckers then pack block ice around them (not ice that was frozen last night)
and it might/should/probably make it.

Get dried ice if you can. Pack the box with newspaper to increase insulation, and if you use "crushed ice", try to get crushed ice that is chopped up from a solid ice block, and not flash frozen like any cheap ice from an ice maker that will melt in no time.Jep wrote:In chilly bin with crushed ice.kinard wrote:Hard to say wether they will handle the journey, maybe wrap them in some sort of insulation.

off topic but why does flash frozen ice melt more quickly than regularly frozen ice? What's the physics there?

true that about frozen vs fresh. No, not part Maori but I grew up in the far north, so a very different experience to a whitey growing up in Wellington or something. I haven't had paua for years and have a thing for paua fritters
