Getting grilled about tax rebates for foreigners that have kids here. I have seen evidence that there is an allowance of $38 per dependent, per month. I have yet to see any evidence of which docs need be supplied to my HR to avail said allowance. HR virtually refuse to call the tax office to ask. (I am adding a complimentary WTF??)
Thing is today I had a piece of paper shoved under my nose to say employees must provide a marriage cert, family book and birth certs, some were not pleased and I simply don't think these can be requirements (unless you wish to allow for your spouse too).
Does anyone have definitive answers (ha, okay at least experience)???
Are birth certificates all you need give to HR/Accounting depts, to avail these windfalls?
Thank you!
Tax rebate in Cambo, how, what, where, no fish sauce!

It's not for foreigners, it's for everyone that pays tax. I thought it was 30,000k riel per dependent.
No idea what is required, probably worth a trip to the tax department id the employers are being dicks about it.
Where did the piece of paper come from? Just whipped up on ms word by HR, company policy, or tax dept?

I do know of foreigners getting the rebate, or so they say, but they have no other info than they gave lots of docs (whatever they had).
(Foreigners with Khmer children this is)
I need to find out if birth certs are enough on their lonesome).
The trip was the bit I was trying o avoid, but now maybe I have to.
Yeah, the paper was cobbled together by using snippets of existing law.
It was 75,000 Riel and increased to 150,000 starting Jan 2017.
Cheers anyway!

Only birth certificate for me to claim my son.
They cannot request marriage certificate, what if you are not married?
And I didn't need to get family book either.

They simply subtract the allowance each month from your tax payment, therefore reducing it by allowance amount or is that too simple.
I am trying to work out what my tax would be if I can get this too.
Thanks again!
Yes, by everyone that pays tax, I mean everyone including foreigners.ROOTIN TOOTIN wrote:I do know of foreigners getting the rebate, or so they say, but they have no other info than they gave lots of docs (whatever they had).

And no, it is not a straight deduction. It comes out of your tax base not your tax liability.
i.e. if you are in the 20% bracket you get 20% of 150,000 KHR which is about USD$7.50

GMJS is correct, that's roughly how much I am getting from my rebate. Dont know much detail, I simply handed a copy of my daughter's birth cert and family book and the office manager did the rest of work.
