Passport Problem/will want Cambodia Visa
Passport Problem/will want Cambodia Visa
The photo on my ppt got wet, so from the nose down, it looks *slightly* smudged. The rest of my ppt is fine. *Only* the bottom of my photo got a bit wet.
Is this going to be a problem in getting my next Cambodia 1 year multiple entry visa? Anyone?
Note- There's a 2nd, black & white, thumbnail photo of me in perfect condition on the next page up.
- My ppt has a microchip, so the ppt can be scanned- it didn't get wet. Proves it's really me.
- This passport has 4 Cambodia visas in it already, monthly & yearly (current visa is yearly).
But you know bureaucrats. The slightest thing they can make a problem about, and they will.
I'm going to Ana's tomorrow for advice, in the meantime, any *opinion* or solid input would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!

It's not always that simple. For example my closest embassy is 1500 km away, and would require me crossing an international border using a pre-arranged visa to even get to their door. He does need to contact his embassy as soon as possible and try to arrange a replacement passport or emergency travel document. Depending on the nationality this could range from the slightly annoying to the what the fuck am I supposed to do now impossible?Phuket2006 wrote:take ur passport to ur embassy and ask them.

1 thing , unless he posts the photo nobody, can give him a answer and its all up to the immigration or whomever, if they want to accept it,
I was in KL with gf one time getting her a new 1 year Thai visa, thai embassy would not accept her passport, Thai immigration here in phuket said it was fine, (i had accidentally washed it a few weeks before,)Thai immigration allowed her to leave on it, Malaysian immigration stamped her in on it BUT.... so she was forced to fly back to Phnom Pehn and get a new one
So what happens if u loose ur Passport in Cambodia, Thailand,Laos..... there must be an embassy you can deal with.

Hi thanks for your concerns. First, I'm not a millennial. Why should it matter? Second, my embassy is some distance away- a pain of a trip, but I am in Cambodia. Can't there be a more convenient way?
my passport got wet, half my visa stamp (the ink) is barely legible (date stamp, location stamp, the red seal, etc), they still let me in. got asked a few times about it, told them it rained, but i got tired of it so i used an ink pen and traced over what i could. they still let me in. if you have a second photo in your passport, i don't see why it would be a problem. but maybe renew early just in case there are issues. i guess i'm lucky, my photo page is sort of plastic and water-resistant.

I took my passport for a swim once (it started raining and the rock got slippery) and had no issues in the 5 following years, 4 of which were spent in Cambodia.
@LL
Does you country have agreements with other embassies to share services in Cambodia? Countries sometimes partner up if they can't set up their own embassy.

JimSocks, your reply takes my worries away! My ppt is in much better condition than yours was. Hope my luck is as good as yours!

Irish embassy I presume. Wanted to visit Ireland with my (non-European) wife. Most unhelpful, impractical and illogical embassy I ever encountered. Is Ireland the North Korea of Europe, or something? Afraid foreigners will steal its political posters? We eventually went elsewhere - obviously Ireland does not require the tourist Euros.
Yeah. I'm on an Irish passport. Not looking forward to renewal in 5.... years. Muhhhuuuuuuuu!

Yes, the embassy that deals with Cambodia is in Hanoi. I've gotten a couple of passports through them and it wasn't difficult.
Are you sure you're thinking of the right country? The only political posters I've ever seen were for general elections.Afraid foreigners will steal its political posters?

Apparent requirements for a holiday visa :
- certified copy of ALL passports ever held (she is over 45 - that's at least 5 passports....);
- certified copy of all title deeds of all properties held;
- certified copies of all passports of all children;
- certified copy of employment visa;
- letter of invitation;
- original bank statements for X months;
- proof of means to support herself while in Ireland,
etc etc.
This is ridiculous for a 10 day visit. North Korea by comparison was a doddle.
What's the welcome sign at Dublin airport - 'Auslander Raus' ????
