:help:

Dear Khmer440 Forumers,

I am Manuel L. Genabe III and I am currently based in the Philippines. I am one of the partners of a medical facility called Immunoboosters located along Makati Avenue, Makati City - the CBD of the country. The other partners are all medical professionals. I basically handle operations, marketing, finance and business development. Part of the ASEAN integration is the ability of Philippine-trained physicians to register with the Medical Council of Cambodia and practice medicine in Cambodia - I believe this is part of the MRA amongst the member nations. Because of this, we would like to take advantage of the MRA and planning to expand to PP as part of our Asean Integration plans. We basically want to put up a Medical Clinic that can do overnight (less than 24hours) in-clinic treatments such as IV antibiotics, run blood tests, etc.

Before we could finalize what service list we would provide the PP market, we would need you help in answering some questions.

Questions are:
1. How much are the consultation fees for a foreign-trained physician? How much do you pay when you see a non-Khmer doctor or a foreign doctor? Or if you haven't seen one yet, up to how much are you willing to pay for it?
2. What area is the most convenient for the expats community since this is the target market that we would like to touch on (just the same market that we have currently in the Philippines being in the CBD)?
3. What are the common medical concerns? Was there a time that you went to a doctor in PP and you were misdiagnosed and not treated? And have to go to a hospital?
4. Do you buy your medicines from the doctors that have diagnosed you or you ask for a prescription and you buy it somewhere else?
5. What is the most reliable clinical/medical laboratory for bloodworks/blood tests? How much is the average amount that you've spent there?

I would appreciate if you could spend just 2 minutes of your time. We would be needing the answers to the aforementioned questions so that we could develop the proper and appropriate services to render in the Cambodian (specifically PP) market.

On the other hand, if you have suggestions and comments re the current available medical services and service providers in PP and you want us to improve them, please do not hesitate to let us know. It would really help us in the service development of this project.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to revert back to this post.
Your immediate response will be highly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance!

:D :D :D

Sincerely yours,

Manuel L. Genabe III
Immunoboosters Co.

Good initiative. I'd personally trust a Filipino doc much more than a local quack.

Thank you very much for your kind words.
We have researched a little bit and it seems like expats don't like local doctors. Why do you think this is so? Thank you very much in advance.

There is quite a range of expertise, from those operating dubious clinics on street corners to well trained and overseas trained doctors practicing in the better appointed hospitals. There are a few expats that for whatever reason seem to end up using the street corner clinics and consequently get a bad experience. This adverse experience gets talked about and adds to the mindset that ignores the significant progress that has been made with medical service delivery in the last 20 years. For many expats their experience of the medical services here comes from anecdotal evidence and few have first hand experience of present day services. This leads to many expats having a poor opinion of local doctors.

There are Filipenas working here. Central hospital for example has a couple of very good Filipena nurses that also (I think) provide some upskilling to the local nurses. There is also a Filipino surgeon that either works or provides some consultancy services there.
