There is cheddar on a Bic Mac? I thought it was American "plastic" cheese.businessclass wrote:I tried a Bic Mac without cheddar once, that was pretty dire.

The vast majority of you (the world, and doubly so Americans) have never had real chedder cheese. It is night and day to the plastic, coloured, lumps that you get in supermarkets, et cetera.
"the absence of protection for the name Cheddar, contributed to this decline. The introduction of rind-less block cheeses and frequent use of pasteurised milk further reduced the unique characteristics of Cheddar made in South West England."

Well, here's to power of cheddar cheese, to even in it's simplest form, as a slice of gelatin with artificial flavor added, to still be of importance, even for us culture lacking colonials and post midnight drunks.
I wont be buying a Happy Pizza from Violet anytime soon,. no bloody mozzarella.

OK, the French fly in their precious cheese, I know that.
I even once shared a small repast of fine French cheese and saucisson sec on a Himalayan mountainview with a generous French couple and their guide trekking upwards on the serpentine mountain path.
Never forgot that moment, although I must confess, Himalayan yak cheese is quite acceptable, even to the European palate. Seems that yak milk is loaded with delicious fats for those cold, Himalayan winters!
But where to buy the best Cheddar in Phnom Penh, then? Does BritCham know where to get some?
Someone call the embassy, it's a national treasure! And I mean the real stuff Playboy raves on about!
Not too long ago, the Brits were accused of poor feed ... I hope that's changed recently!
