OMG what are those loud a$$ birds at dawn?
I suspect that an enterprising neighbour has recently entered the swiftlet nest farming business. They play artificial birdsong noise in order to attract the swiftlets and get them in the mood for nest making.

Exactly what I was thinking but then again you do not really hear it all over town. But yes, the calls blasted out would be annoying as hell.slavedog wrote:I suspect that an enterprising neighbour has recently entered the swiftlet nest farming business. I like to hear wild bird-sounds. I stayed in hill-tribe villages in the north way back and was well noised up by the roosters/Jungle fowl though, they are annoying as fuck.

I got them near me. More expensive than gold that stuff. I tasted the stuff for the first time the other month as we know someone who is involved in the business. You wanna know what it tastes like/texture etc?Hanno wrote:Exactly what I was thinking but then again you do not really hear it all over town. It's exactly like eating those jelly balls you get in the sweet drinks over here but stringy.
Felt guilty eating the shit.

I also hear loud bird calls after 5am. They usually stop when the sun has risen.
I'd also like to know what type of birds they are.

I still think it is Asian Koel. Whilst the "Ko-el" sound is the one they are nmed after, they also have a couple of other calls.

They don't need electric lights, they crow when the stars turn a certain degree, usually start abut 2-3 am.
Here...I suppose the scientists made it up on the spot, too?

It's not impossible that if birds can navigate by the stars and see polarisation that is invisible to us, that they can know when to start chirping based on light/ star position. You can learn how to tell the time in the N Hemisphere based on the Big Dipper.
Who mentioned temperature? What are you smoking? I used the word 'degree' in its geometrical sense, not related to temperature. As in obtuse/acute angle? Doh.
