Hey, i always thought the Japanese were so unoffensive it was almost slightly offensive?
The most polite nation on earth no? Kids can walk to school and back on their own with no fear of weirdos grabbing them. People handing in wallets dropped on the floor.
But on the other hand, you do have those Japanese only blow job shops in Bangkok i guess.
I got to know a Japanese guy in Thailand quite well. He was always sneering at me funny enough - Not because i'm a tosser though i might add, but more because i'd gotten together with my now girlfriend who he fancied.
Just thought i'd condense a whole country into a few sentences for you.
Peace
The types of Japanese people that visit Thailand and live in Thailand are usually the more open-minded people, hence being open to traveling/living outside Japan.
You would never experience these behaviors from Japanese people in Thailand, but you sure would if you were visiting/living in Japan.
Most travelers don't notice these behaviors at all because they are both too excited about being in Japan and traveling around and they don't know enough about the different social aspects of the Japanese culture.
I studied Japanese culture and took 2 years of Japanese language courses before even coming to visit Japan as a traveler. I'm have now been living here for about 3 years married to a Japanese woman (one of the more open-minded Japanese types).
The things you mention do happen in Japan, but a lot of other things happen as well of course.
I'd like to add that I have yet to meet a Japanese man that understand the concept of "bros before hos".
Most adult entertainment shops here in Japan are Japanese only, along with other more important things like
voting and being able to enter certain bathhouses.
