Lots of other hotel pools, anywhere from the Raffles and Sofitel, to more boutique like Plantation and Pavilion. I've also used Patio and Aquarius for the afternoons before.
For kids, there's the Cambodia Country Club, or I believe Slavedog has recommended Urban Space or something like that, where he'll bring the kids and enjoy a bottle of wine to himself.
There's another place on the other side of the river, but people have given the staff pretty bad reviews. Forget the name though.
Their service has improvements slightly though, every table gets a buzzer to attract staff attention. They still take 15 minutes to fetch a beer.
Update on swimming pool situation

Urban Space is great for kids and, yes, a decent menu and wine selection for grown-ups. But it should be noted that the pool is a kids pool, not suitable for adults to swim in.

When you say the East bank of the Mekong, you mean you have to take the ferry over to Kandal to get there?Lucky Lucan wrote:There's S-Mango right on the east bank of the Mekong. For the hotel pools, do most of them have deals where non-guests can pay to use the pool? What options are there for pools that are long enough to swim some kind of laps?Miguelito wrote:Cambodiana pool is still there.

The Techo Morakot stadium has an Olympic size pool, and a 25m training pool, plus diving pool...free.

Yes, but the ferries run very regularly up till 11 PM or something and only take ten minutes from near Naga. You can drive but it's a 45 km (one way)or so trip via the Prek Eng Bridge vs less than 5 if you use the ferry.palm_tree wrote:When you say the East bank of the Mekong, you mean you have to take the ferry over to Kandal to get there?Lucky Lucan wrote:There's S-Mango right on the east bank of the Mekong. I've only been once, it's a lovely quiet jungley sort of spot with a decent pool. I'd go back but would figure on not eating there next time as it was terrible.Slavedog wrote:Begs the question, why the devil do you keep going back for more?

How does it work there- is it basically eat there and swim free? Could be a good weekend trip.Lucky Lucan wrote:Yes, but the ferries run very regularly up till 11 PM or something and only take ten minutes from near Naga. No, unfortunately they do also charge for the pool, it's something like 10,000 for kids and $5 for adults, maybe it's free if you're a guest though. There are rooms/bungalow huts there, and weirdly enough they set tents up on the deck there in the evening. I've never slept in a tent here, maybe it would be ok with a river breeze but I can't imagine it would be too pleasant for most of the year.palm_tree wrote:

It's still a really nice spot, hidden down a lane and just surrounded by trees and rural rustic looking stuff. The whole area is a fresh breath of air and amazingly easy to access from the congested city center. There can be some serious congestion getting back into town, a lot of people use that route when returning from weekends in Prey Veng etc.
