Hi folks,
Does anyone know the current classification of drivers licenses?
I've just done the exam and road test for manual transmission cars, and got a class "B" - is that car/pickup truck now? I thought I recall my old plastic license having class "B" as > 125cc bike.
Cheers

Awesome, thanks Miguelito.Miguelito wrote:Yes, B is automobile. Under “special conditions” it should be blank, but if you scan the QR code you’ll see that it says you can drive manual.
Cool about the QR code, I didn't know that. I've confirmed mine does say manual.
I wonder if anyone (local or barang) have got fined for driving a manual car on an auto licence?
pew, pew, pew, pew!

For me, I wasn't worried about being fined, and as you said, I doubt that it has ever happened. I would be surprised if a policeman ever checked, or even if they knew the difference haha. However, it was important for me to get so that if I ever drove one, and got in an accident, that the insurance company didn't screw me, because I could definitely see an insurance agent knowing the difference and checking.YaTingPom wrote:I wonder if anyone (local or barang) have got fined for driving a manual car on an auto licence?

On a similar note about QR codes, they are rolling out QR codes to be put on license plates. The stated purpose is to crack down on plates being swapped among vehicles, etc. They'll also be putting everything online, so you can register your car/moto online, and then even pick and pay for a special number in a transparent system.
^^ I'm sure that will all take a bit of time.
Oh, one more thing, they're releasing a mobile phone ap so that every citizen can report potholes on the road (that's going to fill up fast), and the MoT has purchased bicycles to send out employees to inspect the national roads by bike to get a closer inspection than by car (seriously).
