Long-term guesthouse, then apt
Long-term guesthouse, then apt
Can anyone suggest a good, secure long-term guesthouse with fast wi-fi? Will then look for apt.

He doesn't live in Cambodia. He wants recommendations before he moves to Phnom Penh. Presumably from Pattaya.

Golden Bridge opposite Golden Gate on Street 278 . I have stayed there plenty of times , long term and also have had friends there also long term stays . I haven't been for a couple of years but if it hasn't changed you will find a cheap , $15 night $400 month guesthouse that is well run . When I was there many long term guests were UN employees so that should be a recommendation.

Dont do it! Phnom Penh if not all Cambodia is infested with vile racist motodops/tuktuks who will label you as a tourist and proceed to harass and annoy you and infringe on your public rights anytime you venture anywhere outside your accommodation
in the process of fucking off to the land of honey and free beer
What's a public right?....

You haven't even said what city, but the process is similar. Look on Booking.com or Agoda, find something that seems nice and a decent price. Then double check the reviews on TA. When you have a short list or 1st choice; contact them directly and ask about a long-term price per month. You can do this also two ways. One strategy is to negotiate on the basic room and then take the chance to upgrade when you arrive, and another is to just negotiate outright for the room with your required amenities first go. You will have a much easier or more difficult time dependant on the season. The high season they need to make their $$'s and won't usually negotiate much, and the low season they are happy to cover their costs.
Sometimes you can't get a better price over the counter than booking on Agoda, even while sitting in their lobby after showing them that you can pay $X and explaining that after they pay their booking fees, they will have less than offering you a slightly reduced price in cash now. I have had some great results using the secret deals on Agoda. In this case, you can just book your first few nights and go from there. Once you are there on the ground, they will usually offer you the same rates.
Upon arrival, it's nice to get your first few nights in a 5 star, and something that has a shuttle, so they pick you up and give you the 5-star treatment which is welcome after a long flight.
In the beginning, I worried far too much about these things when in fact, it's so easy to accomplish these things in short order. Good Luck.

what happened to this place?
Why, oh why, didn't I take the Blue pill?
No, have been to Pattaya a couple of times, but don't think I could live there. Now in Europe, a little weary of their elegant fashions and self-important narrow "traditions". Place is dying of old age.long in the tooth wrote:how do you know all that?gavinmac wrote:long in the tooth wrote:where? there are 100's all over town.
