I'm a Digital nomad who plans to stay in Cambo for 3-9 months. Please help!
Dear friends,
I'm new to this forum so thank you in advance for any help you can lend me!
1. Since I plan to stay in Cambodia for 3-9 months, have my own work and will not be looking for a job, what visa should I apply for upon landing in Phnom Penh (essentially, which will make life easier: the single entry visa for tourist (T) or single entry visa for business (E))?
2. From my understanding, I can extend the tourist visa for 1 month only before having to leave the country, but I can extend the business visa for several months. Is this accurate?
3. If, let's say, I apply for a tourist visa, after the second month what would be the easiest/fastest visa run leaving from Phnom Penh and back?
4. Where can I obtain cell phone service in Phnom Penh?
5. Where can I purchase good Internet service in Phnom Penh?
Any additional advice that you can think of is most welcome!
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Oman

1 - E visa (business)
2 - Extend to EG (looking for work) - 6 months, then leave and start again
3 - Go for E then EG (looking for work). otherwise, depends on where you are from. thailand 2 per year via land border, vietnam if from Europe,
4 - Phone - Any market, street in Phnom Penh. Metfone, smart & cellcard are all good. different levels of coverage around Cambodia, assuming PP I'd choose metfone but that is personal preference.
5 - internet. try Opennet, Digi, or Sinet. Probably others available.
it is all pretty easy to figure out once you arrive (apart from the visas that have changed quite a lot recently)

Anybody else read ‘digital gonad’ in the thread title?
thanks so much, ReasonstobefearfulP3. i appreciate the info.
however, i just got a tourist visa for one month which i'll extend. then i'll leave the country, which gives me a chance to travel more, and return either on another tourist visa or on a business one, if i plan to stay longer.
doesn't seem like a big problem either way.
ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ, that's messed up man. i hate it when people talk about my gonads. hope we don't cross paths in PP. ;P

PS: ReasonstobefearfulP3, i carry a US passport. this being the case, where would you recommend the fastest border crossing to thailand from PP and back? thank you!
land border, probably poipet. you can search youtube, a lot of people have videos on it. but its usually the opposite, ppl renewing visas for thailand, border crossing to cambodia, but concept is the same.
A digital nomad who can’t use a web browser to find information without asking for hand holding should be little to no challenge to avoid. You will blend right in with the silly crowd. Enjoy the diarrhea and try not to run in traffic.oman wrote:ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ, that's messed up man. i hate it when people talk about my gonads. hope we don't cross paths in PP. ;P

So, as a digital wizzkid, you entered the Khmer440 pub without reading the menu and once inside, complain about the food and drinks and subsequently offend the regulars, because they don't agree with your statements and behaviour.oman wrote:thanks, JimSocks. kind of you.

If I would plan to stay somewhere 3-9 months in an unknown country, I would do the RESEARCH myself by reading, reading, reading and not expect other people to serve me answers on all my initial questions I do have and cry for help. People are helpful, though even digital nomads like you should have learned to hold up their pants themselves, without being baby fed for 100%, like you do seem to approach life. Oh, in Cambodia, nobody is going to hold up your pants, you are all on your own. IF you are not able to handle that, do not come to Cambodia, because you will return broke, or even worse, just plain dead.
I dislike that “Digital Nomad” moniker.
Shirley if one was going on holiday for a few months with laptop but might do some extra pushing of keys they’re a tourist catching up on work whilst on holiday?
