How's the overpriced gayzebo doing?

The confusion and resentment arises because there are always two immigration officers sitting next to each other collecting visa applications (not gay), and it's unclear if there is or should be one line in front of them or two.ricecakes wrote:
When i got to the line there were a dozen or so tourists milling around looking very unsure of what to do and so I strode past them all and slapped my passport and form down and made off for the other end of the counter where your passport gets spat out and you pay.

That's also a good introduction to Asia for the backpackers and how lines work in general.gavinmac wrote:The confusion and resentment arises because there are always two immigration officers sitting next to each other collecting visa applications (not gay), and it's unclear if there is or should be one line in front of them or two.ricecakes wrote:

If the line is more or less single file, and you stand at the back of the single file line, then someone like Ricecakes will breeze past you on your right and briefly stand directly in front of the second immigration dude collecting visa applications, and then hand his application over, and you'll feel like a right chump standing at the back of the line watching that happen.
But if you breeze past the line of all the people waiting and give the second immigration officer your visa application, you risk being chided by those lined up as a queue-jumping asshole.
So is Ricecakes a line-cutting dickhead? No, not in this instance. It's actually two lines.

Did you get a business visa by paying 350 without having to submit any other documents?ricecakes wrote:Not really related however....
On my way into Ponchentong last week I had already prefilled my tourist visa form with attached photo . When i got to the line there were a dozen or so tourists milling around looking very unsure of what to do and so I strode past them all and slapped my passport and form down and made off for the other end of the counter where your passport gets spat out and you pay. Some FWB gave me a filthy look and motioned there was a queue and I just laughed at her.
Before I got too far I got called back an I thought i was going to get told to wait in the queue by a Khmer immigration official ( how novel ! ) however he just looked at me and then motioned for me to keep going...wierd i thought.
When i got to the other end there were about 20 people waiting to get their passports so i settled in for what I knew would be a 15 min wait. But then All of a sudden an immigration dude comes out of a side door motions me over, shows me my passport and offers me express processing for $5 which i jump on. 2 mins later I am on my way much to the annoyance of all waiting.
I have no idea why they "chose" me however there was another single male traveller coming to the "express door" behind me so I can only assume they were grabbing single males who could be done quickly.
This is the first time I have had this offered in 12 years of transiting through Cambodia.
I then asked the dude if he could do a 12 month business visa and was told $350 / 20 minutes. I assume this is the one time only 12 mth EB anyone can get before needing the Work Book etc.
Merry Xmas

I don’t know why they don’t just say “Sure, thirty pounds.” They should accept any currency in the world at a favorable exchange rate.

You can pay the 350 and get the 12 month EB in 30 mins. Its 280 normally I believe. But what cost running around and waiting?jackrossi wrote:Did you get a business visa by paying 350 without having to submit any other documents?ricecakes wrote:Not really related however....

I don't understand well by your post.
Or did you just pay extra to get it done pronto?

Next time just offer him $25 for 30 quid and expedite the process.gavinmac wrote:I arrived today. Things have changed that much in the last two years?gavinmac wrote:I just applied for an e-visa. The time from getting the "application received" email to the "here's your visa" email was seven minutes.
Worth it to skip the line these days.
gavinmac wrote:It's $7 more, you have to print it out, the time saving is minimal, and I have two passports now, one passport for all the Thai and Cambodia pervert stamps and one passport for the cool globetrotting terrorist sympathizer stamps.Miguelito wrote:gavinmac wrote:For the second time in about a year, the following recently occurred:
1. I land at Phnom Penh airport and fill out application for tourist visa, which costs $30.
2. Officers put tourist visa in passport, I hand over $50 and await change.
3. Officer puts $10 and $5 bill on counter and sort of waits to see if I'll leave. I stand there waiting for the rest.
4. Officer slowly puts $5 more on counter. I take it and leave.
II wonder how much they are making off this scam.
GM,
You often complain about running out of pages, renewing passports, etc. If you're just entering on a tourist visa, why don't you just get an e-visa beforehand? I understand it is $7 more, but it saves you a passport page, and time at the airport.

Yes, the line of fucktards is much longer now. Also, I forgot to bring passport photos, so now the $36 e-visa fee is only $3 more than visa on arrival.Miguelito wrote:
