Technical Schools / Trade School ???
In Oz and most western countries, if you wanted to learn a trade and become a Plumber, Carpenter, Electrician etc you would go to trade school for the technical learning and also do an apprenticeship with an employer for several years to give you hands on training.
Is there some form of apprenticeship training available in Cambodia ?

My skill set on these trades is all self taught and unless I am addressing a specific issue and he is around at the time of the problem,
I cannot pass on my knowledge.
What I am looking for is the opportunity to up skill him from being a basic laborer with little understanding of what he is doing.
To someone who has knowledge and an understanding of what he is doing, why it needs to be done this way, and makes sure it meets the min standard and not endanger others around him.
Cambodia needs these skill sets and currently imports them in the form of foreign labor.
I figure if I can equip him with these skills now,
Then that puts him in a much better position for decisions he will make later in life.

To be quite honest "V",
There is a need to develop these skills within the local population and it is something I have pondered upon.
Unfortunately I have neither the funds or connections to make it happen.

I also observe others who just make it happen.
I wasn't being flippant in my responses (well, perhaps a tad).
Cambodia does need it. Perhaps your contribution to having it come into effect is raising the question in the forum a couple of times. Let's hope.

My skill set in most things in life is severely limited, especially in regards to IT where the future lies.

ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
I remember many years ago a chippie mate and I met with the Minister of Education to talk about setting up a trade training system. My mate was working for TAFE in Australia. The Minister then owned the big school on Norodom, that's where we met him. All I can remember was him criticising Khmers in the provinces for being stupid and giving money to the monks for a new roof for the wat while they lived in shacks.
I trained up the carpentry gang at Northbridge. It took a few months but they actually got pretty good and learnt finesse when using tools. When I left one of them told me that the most important thing they learned from me was preparation.

PSE does a whole lot of vocational training, they have thousands of students studying to be mechanics, electricians, chefs, hotel managers, etc. They get placed in top companies.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
