How about erotic fiction? Nobody will mind if there are some lesbian scenes. Plenty of material in selected venues.

There are at least two published authors living in Phnom Penh, Luke Hunt and Professor Steve. Both of them are regulars at Larry's. Why don't you introduce yourself, offer to buy them a beer and ask for their advice?
There are a lot more than that, however Violet is no longer resident in the Kingdom.

Slavedog, you do not belong on this forum as you talk too much sense.

I've had some short stories published and quite a few rejected. Part of the trick is to just get stuff out there. Writing is very personal and the criticism that comes with it stings, but as you do it more often it stings less and constructive feedback becomes more welcome.

Good luck and get pen to paper!

You would need to check that with an Australian

I really am grateful for the constructive feedback. Thank you.

Logos, there are probably others more likely to wet your appetite for erotic lesbian writing. If I were anything, I'd be a heterosexual and any erotic writing would be along those lines.

Also, there are some mind mapping tools available on the internet. I found these quite useful when I wrote my first novel. That was many years ago, I expect they are better now.

I wasn't sure if I should post this link with you (Violet) being a procrastinator but I find it invaluable...

I'm not going to click on links. Thanks though. (Quoting you gave me the link to use though. Ta)

Johnpartee I didn't ask how I become a writer I asked for tips to help me overcome a fear that has paralysed me. Telling me to write is the same as telling a suicidal guy to man up and smile, because it can't be that bad.

I didn't know you had written anything

I will google mind mapping for writers

Edit. This looks useful

So have you finished War and Peace yet? It's been a few days already!

While you can shoot off a dozen chapters in 24 hours, I cannot. Nor have I.
I've jostled thoughts around, scratched a few lines on paper, and been distracted by thoughts of having to return to work tomorrow just as I'm working my speed up to change to second gear... So, why get into second if I am going to stop 1 metre after doing so?
Sigh

If I ever do this, it will be the greatest achievement of my life.
