Cheapest single room near riverside
Cheapest single room near riverside
Good evening everyone. I know this is not the most original first post - far from it really- but it's a bit of an urgency so I have to ask. I've been away from PP for a couple years now and apparently single room rates have pretty much skyrocketed since. Used to spend 4, maximum 5 USD for a sultry yet cozy room at White River 2, now the place closed down and everywhere I've asked the going rate is 15 USD or above. So I took a dorm bed for now but I don't think this can be a long-term solution - got a couple wounds to medicate daily, one is, er, down there where the sun don't shine so it's quite inconvenient to do so without the privacy of a single room. Is there anyone here who can help? Sorry again about the trivial question. Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry to hear about your predicament. Khmer 440 is predominantly a site for foreigners living in Cambodia. Not many on here would know prices for flop-houses. Luckily we have a site we can direct you to where such questions will be answered by experts on the ground:

You could go on hotels.com and do a search?
Looks like single rooms are available in Phnom Penh from the $6-7 range. And this is high season.. Nordic House at $10 with excellent service and location on top, .. best of luck!

noted, however
the link doesn't work because anything with the forum name that LL was trying to share automatically gets corrected to 'TOF' so the link was tof.com rather than the name of the other forum (TOF).com

Just past Wat Botom Park there are a couple of cheap hotels. Last time I was in town I stayed at the Basac GH on Sothros , fan only, khmer TV , cold water shower 7 or 8 dollars a night. This was a couple of years ago but I doubt the price has gone up much.
k440, something to do when you're pissed.

That place looks deserted these days, the company seem to be concentrating on buses.

I remember a Capitol gh near Russian Market, that's where I stayed first time in PP back in 2013. Is that the one you're talking about? Like someone else already said though, I dropped by not too long ago and it looked like Capitol buses was the only active business left there...
The one I am thinking about is near O'Russey Market. It's on St. 182, , not far from the corner of 182 and Monivong. Capitol Tour buses also leave from outside. I don't know if the hotel part is actually still open, but there used to be other cheap guest houses around there.Misia wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2019 4:30 pmI remember a Capitol gh near Russian Market, that's where I stayed first time in PP back in 2013. It's near O' Russei Market, which means "Bamboo Stream", not "Russian". Russian Market is "Psah Tuol Tom Pong" which means "Big Raised ground of Pong (the owner)".
