Is MSG the reason for so many barang heart attacks?

As above, most are due to lifestyle misadventures.
That said, unless eating in a mid to higher end venue, most every piece of veg, meat, rice and noodle that is fried will be in the cheapest palm oil shite possible.
It's not great for the cardiovascular system.
I am aware that there are contradictory studies on this, but I'll stick with better quality cooking oil.
Think about that next time you are buying greasy chips somewhere.

https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/sp ... 229468.eceThe study has found that in developing countries, for every additional kg of palm oil consumed per capita annually, IHD mortality rates increased by 68 deaths per 1,00,000, whereas, in similar settings, stroke mortality rates increased by 19 deaths per 1,00,000. Another study from Malaysia further validates these claims: Consuming palm oil that has been repeatedly reheated may cause plaque deposits in the arteries due to a decrease in the oil's antioxidant activity and formation of trans fats (a highly toxic form of fatty acid). Palm oil that had been reheated 10 times led to large arterial plaques and other signs of heart disease over a six-month study period.
While these studies demonstrate the ill effects of palm oil, further proof comes from a large population based study in Mauritius. In 1987, the Government of Mauritius changed the composition of the commonly used cooking oil from being mostly palm oil (high in saturated fatty acids) to being wholly soyabean oil (high in unsaturated fatty acids). This resulted in a significant decline in the bad cholesterol level in the Mauritian population.

Yes, indeed. Street 51 and GSM are potential causes of premature demises.

Hmmm. I'm not known for being particularly a wuss I don't think but if I eat, say, a pizza I've either got to take a pill an hour or so before or expect serious pain sometimes for days.
Short crust pastry, forgeddabout it. Gluten intolerance is, embarrassingly, real.

Crappy old mall on 51 which used be a bit of a hub for seedier sides of PP.
These days it's pretty much defunct and just gets memed to fuck here and on CEO when the topics of drugs, death and scumbags is dragged up.
Yeah basically the only way to avoid MSG I think would be to cook your own food, but I won’t have a kitchen while staying in PP.Jackal wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 5:03 pm^

There are some restaurants that claim not to use MSG but some of those use it anyway.
There is a nice ramen and noodle restaurant that doesn’t. Warmly recommended, https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_ ... _Penh.html

You could just go to a French or Italian place or something. It's not like every restaurateur and chef in the country is involved in some conspiracy to sneak MSG into everyone's meals in the hopes that they'll get hooked and get headaches and then come back for more.

Way back when, I did some work with Ajinomoto, it was back when they first opened their packaging plant up at the PPSEZ.
They imported their product from a massive processing plant that they have in Southern Thailand in bulk, in 1 ton sacks, then packaged it down to those sachets or bags you buy in the shops here.
I was bringing in almost 4,000 tons per month for them during the initial startup period.
That was about 10 years ago ...

Fuck knows where it all goes. I guess a fair amount is held in stock within the overall supply chain, but a huge amount of it must be consumed on a daily basis. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks - as a dry dip with chilli sauce for green fruits, et cetera

Sure, there is Celiac disease, affecting like 0.1% of the population. Then you have gluten intolerance , affecting 80% of the Hipsters and 100% of NGO volunteers.RobW wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 6:07 pmHmmm.
