The same as the rest of the country, all Foreigners must be registered with the Sangkat and the DoI.

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
Mr. Kiwi, what’s the deal with “registration”? I’ve never “registered” at either as far as I know, but have been able to get married to a Cambodian, have a sprog, get Sangkat letters for residency for director positions, etc.
Are you saying there’s a process for Sangkat & DOI folks should follow - if so, I’m about 14 years too late, what’s the fine?

@Spigzy - it's one of those procedures that up until recent times hasn't been widely enforced, but they are now trying to enforce more diligently. If you rent, then your landlord is supposed to register you with the Sangkat, who then report to the DoI, many landlords don't register their foreign tenants. Fairly certain this topics been covered several times.

Most landlords don't want the hassle of registering their tenants as they do not want to pay the 10% tax on property rentals

"We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
Last February I visited Kampong Cham and the village of my wife for a wedding...the police came by to check out my passport and visa...took pictures and wrote her name and mine in a book...I had not been there in 2 years and my previous 5 trips had no such visit.
They took pics of my documents.
It was cordial...even took pics with them smiling...I went to the wedding and had a great time..The police officer told my wife to just tell him I was in town next time.
it did freak me out...

I was mowing the lawns at our block in Areyk Sat one weekend some years ago. We had just finished building a kajok and two cops rocked up which was fucking odd given we are down a very quiet back road into farmland. They told me I had to accompany them to the station to register given I was a westerner and had " moved into their sangkat". My mother in law was with us and she gave them a right fucking serve. Told them the block was a weekender, I didn't live in their sangkat and that they should FUCK off whence they came. They did.
End of my story about registration.

Ya similar to Morticia once or twice, but those days are ending. Any overnight stay anywhere outside your primary registration place has to be recorded. That is why they rolled out the APP, to make it easier to do. Similar to what Thailand had on the books for years but now is finally enforcing.ricecakes wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 3:16 amI was mowing the lawns at our block in Areyk Sat one weekend some years ago. Likely not an issue, but if you cross a cop on a tear, or get hurt or something and the cops become involved, it can fuck you....or give another reason for even more tea money.
