yeah if you had done really well in life you' would be able to chose between countries that have capitalist democratic holier-than-thou health care systems that kill their sicko population in the hundreds of thousands and call it covidJonno wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 3:49 pmThat's going to hurt a lot of people. Thailand is eaten up with bribes for nearly everything and that is something I am not going to continue. My options are down to Cambodia and the Philippines. No deposit, no return.
When you reach a point in your life that your ‘options are down to Cambodia and the Philippines’ you have to accept things haven’t really worked out that well for you.
Any prediction on when the 3k deposit requirement may be lifted?
I love being on a Khmer website and people are shitting on Cambodia and telling people not to come.
The $2,000 deposit is to cover possible health issues and quarantine.
Check out Australia and their rules to enter these days. They have a limit on their own citizens and use the excuse We told you to come home in March.
That is their business...as the $3,000, now $2,000 deposit is Cambodia's business.
I live in Siem Reap.
I have a beautiful apartment.
I have markets that have anything I desire.
I have a choice.
I could go back to the USA and live in my house there.
The china virus has spoiled my 2020 plans like most folks. I thought I could return to the USA and do some business. But, I felt getting back here would be nearly impossible.
I just got my 4th one year visa extension and I have a great life.
I started a Whisky collection and have been going to on line Whisky School.
A man must have a hobby.
Sure beats being in lockdown with liquor bans and crazy shit going on.
Why do you people go on a Khmer website to bash Cambodia from other countries????
Aren't there other sites you can peruse?

Could you tell us some more about your great life in Siem Reap? I don’t think you have mentioned that or your whisky collection before.
I like how he refers to covid 19 as the "China virus"
Bobby, remind us how many died in the US of the trump virus? Too bad the stable genius got rid of the US pandemic response team he?

Because Chinese government death statistics are top notch reliable. The largest communist country in the world with active concentration camps has too much integrity to stain its numbers with its usual propaganda.
If China didn’t destroy lab results and disappear scientists trying to cover it up in the first place, chances are that they would have been more successful in stopping it.
The virus comes from China and what other countries do does not make China less responsible.
China virus!
Independent of the China dictatorship and statistics, I don't think, there can be much dispute about the way HOAX USA did let this go completely out of control. Just read, US scientists do expect a Covid-19 death-accumulation of 310000 people in the USA, by early December, unless the way Covid-19 is handled is radically changed over there.Alexandra wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 12:50 pmBecause Chinese government death statistics are top notch reliable. That's going to hurt a lot of people. I do kind of see your point but nothing is that black and white.

Khmer440 is world famous for bitter, depressed old expats who attack everyone who wants to do what they did years ago. There may be places that are more fun, but none of them are accepting foreigners right now. I want to get out of Thailand. I am looking at shelling out yet another 14 thousand baht bribe to Immigration, just to extend my visa. Those who say my life hasn't worked out very well, seem to be deflecting and mirroring their own situation. My paltry 30 thousand USD a year, should be enough for ANY country in Southeast Asia, but backwaters like Thailand keep pushing up the ante. Not really interested in Sri Lanka. I have a good friend from there and he warns against his homeland.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
Hah! The way it was customarily done.
Personally I'm a bit depressed, not very bitter but getting old but my reaction has been to be nicer to people as I've come across some folks who despite their best intentions are fucked by current circumstances.
There are a petrie dish of scum parasitic bums who I intend to be meaner to too.
Thailand hasn't changed the financial requirements for retirement "visas" for many years. You choose to do it the agent way ("bribe to immigration"), so I have no idea what you're even complaining about! You either put up with the official requirements and pay 1900 baht per year (no bribes), or you don't and pay more. Both easy, your choice.Jools wrote: ↑Sun Aug 23, 2020 1:37 pmI want to get out of Thailand. I am looking at shelling out yet another 14 thousand baht bribe to Immigration, just to extend my visa.
