Any prediction on when the 3k deposit requirement may be lifted?

Can't even visit, much less relocate, as long as this requirement is in force. Can't seem to find info using the search feature.
I predict it will be reduced to $2000 before it's eliminated entirely.
If you don't have 3k in the bank, just stay away, requirement or not

I have a comfortable monthly income, but I am NOT paying a three thousand dollar bribe to come to Cambodia. Thailand is eaten up with bribes for nearly everything and that is something I am not going to continue. My options are down to Cambodia and the Philippines. No deposit, no return.
It’s not a bribe. It’s a deposit that is refunded.
It was reduced to $2,000 in the beginning of August.

Call it what you will. I won't be paying any "refundable deposits" either. If my 2500 dollars monthly income won't suffice, there is still the Philippines.
The Philippines is in and out of lockdown. If you want to sit in a hotel room you might as well stay where you are.
There is no lockdown in Cambodia.

When you reach a point in your life that your ‘options are down to Cambodia and the Philippines’ you have to accept things haven’t really worked out that well for you.
That's going to hurt a lot of people. I do kind of see your point but nothing is that black and white.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 3:25 pmJools wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 2:09 pmI have a comfortable monthly income, but I am NOT paying a three thousand dollar bribe to come to Cambodia. To try to answer your question can only be based on pure speculation. But Cambodia seems to be gauging its decisions based on the overall global situation. So long as things in America are not good, these rules will remain in force. Normally, there are thousands (10,000 to 50,000) of arrivals per month in Cambodia from each major Western country like France, the UK, Germany, etc... Now there are less than 30 to 50 individuals each month from each Western country...
I think deposits will be required indefinitely. Perhaps in the new year if some miracle happens things may become easier... nobody knows.
With 2,500 a month, you could consider Sri Lanka, which is a nicer place than Cambodia, especially up in the hills.

I think it should be a permanent thing, keep out all the scrotes.
Aren't cambodia expats so warm and welcoming? Really makes you want to head right over and enjoy a "50¢ beer".
there are much funner places to spend your money than cambodia!
