Good Booze Shop?
I remember once in Silom, Bangkok, walked into a big supermarket and it had a huge and varied selection of alcohols from all over the world.
Are there any shops in Cambodia that sell a wide variety of rums, vodkas and gins, for example? (Please, not a wine shop.)
Has anyone seen a place selling even cheapie Tanduay, or, I don't know, Lamb's Navy Rum? I don't know or care about whiskey, but I am going to go after the perfect piña colada by making homemade coconut milk, maybe, one of these days... But the rums available here seem to be limited to the "big name brands" only, and I am not a Bacardi fan. Really, the lack of selection is annoying... Has anybody got a favorite "hidden away" liquor shop? (They used to have them, holes in the wall, in Taipei, filled with a wide variety of exotic liquor.) But here? I don't live in PP, so don't know... I read an article about some European guys selling an expensive locally made rum in the city, and also some guys in Kampot are making local rum... But I am interested in imports, thanks.

There most certainly is and I've been using it, at its various locations over the years, with excellent results.
It is now located as follows:
Mean Sok Heng (Monument) Wines & Spirits Shop
28 Preah Sihanouk Blvd (274)
Opens 9AM · +855 12 855 997
Forget about wines - this shop specialises in fine spirits despite the word wines in its name.
Last time I was in there in January 2020 (pre Covid-19 travel restrictions) they had over 300 different whiskies from around the world, many very rare ones and priced accordingly, and as I am not a drinker of whiskey and of far more interest to me, 61 different Gins and very many different rums.
And the very small English speaking Cambodian woman who is generally in charge of day to day activities knows her stock incredibly well.
Go to it without further delay.

There is that specialist gin maker in TTP as well I believe - Seekers ??
Not sure if it is any good or not, have never tried it.

So, localeyes
Which shops, precisely, are these that you allude to?
And what are their names and addresses? And what is so special about each of them?
I am always interested in hearing of specialist fine spirits shops, so please share your in depth knowledge with forum readers.
It is always so frustrating, and indicative or suggestive of a lack of depth of personal knowledge and experience of the places you post about, when postings such as yours are so vague and generalised and lack hard and useable information.
Please respond with more information and detail.

Yes, I like the Samai very dark and viscous rum very much indeed. But not sure if this is still a current line.

I stock up at Lucky Drink Shop on Monivong, as they have a good selection and reasonable prices. For rum you might want to try Diplomatico (from Venezuela).
Another hole in the wall place is Che Deth Drink Shop on St 13 by Kandal market - very cheap prices on liquor and beer (and a case of soda water is even a few dollars cheaper than the grocery store).
Lucky supermarket, Super Duper, and even Thai Huot all have a disappointing selection - of all of the supermarkets Bayon has the most choices. There's also a liquor area at Aeon, but pricey.
The shop OML recommends is definitely worth a visit as well for the quality selection. If you want to go all out on a rum, I recommend the Zacapa XO (around $100, from Guatemala), or for a good middle of the road the Flor de Caña 18 (or even the 12 is very good, from Nicaragua, $30ish). The Flor de Caña 12 and 18 are both better than the Zacapa 23, IMHO, but the Zacapa XO is wonderful.

Warning Hipster Alert
Rated R for Ricecakes
I found cuban rums in Sihanoukville..Kampot no problem..
Salmadura...or whatever it was called ..the western market near Psar Leu.
Kampot was a nice store across the street from the old fish market restaurant on the riverside..very nice liquor store.
For rum, vodka, gin, tequila, beer go to the New Angkor Market in Siem Reap...
PP...i have no idea..i avoid PP as it festers into the muck
