fixing a T visa to a EB visa.
fixing a T visa to a EB visa.
I found an agent that says they can turn my old expired T visa in to a shiny new one year EB visa. Has anyone heard of this being done? It smells a little fishy to me, But it would save me a lot of trouble i.e. travel to and from the US, Getting a Visa there and then quarantine on the way back. I'm going to give lucky lucky a buzz later today to see if they know anything about it. the lady that works there seems to know her stuff the last few times I've talked to her. If not maybe I'll just risk it with the other agent. If it is a scam I'll only be out a few hundred and a passport. I'm almost out of pages anyways so I'll been needing a new one soon anyhow.

Yes this have been in facebook posts already many times in couple weeks.
But if you get 1mth EB-visa, then gotta have work to get extension for that...?

Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
Thanks, I don't have Facebook so I guess I missed out on that. Haven't check my myspace in a long time. I'm retired so the work thing is not a problem. The only thing is being 34 and retired. Just checking to see if it's a scam or not.
I don’t think it’s a 12 month work Visa but a 30 day visa like what they used to get on arrival. You can’t get a 12 month until you have an e Visa, that they are now giving
Why bother? Just stay on a tourist visa
I think it’s to get rid of all the tourists. “Look, you can stay on this visa or F off. Your choice”

It is not a scam, the DoI have finally decided to use some common-sense...or they realised how much revenue they were losing out on by granting free aiutomatic extensions to those "stuck" here on a Tourist Visa.
You can convert directly from your expired T-type Visa to any E-type EOS (EB, EG, ER, ES) for whichever period you require (1, 3, 6, 12 mth - EG is max 6 mths). There is an additional charge being levied by the DoI for this privilege. This was announced appx 2 weeks ago.
You technically require the necessary supporting documentation to convert to an EB, ER or ES, but most agents sort this out for an additional fee.
Whether this indicates that the current automatic granting of extensions stay and waiver of overstay fines for those on T-type Visas is coming to an end is yet to be determined. I have not seen any directives or announcements issued in regards to this yet, however I would suggest anyone who is still on a T-type Visa takes this opportunity to convert to an E-type Visa.

What a load of bullshit
They only brought in these new rules for EB now they’re saying it’s ok just use an agent to lie and dodge the rules but pay us extra for the priv.
For people in EB who are legal and have a WP this pisses me off no end.
Either continue the waiver or tell anyone who’s on a tourist visa to go home.

PSD_kiwi you're the answer to all my questions on this forum. After checking with 3 different agents it looks pretty strand. $210 to change my T Visa to an E visa, Then $295 to change my E visa to a ER visa and $5 for paperwork. Not to bad for a free years stay if you ask me. Thanks again.

Well tried and unsuccessful. I fall into a little gray area apparently. As I entered in December 25 and renewed my T visa January 25. Both agents I tried, ran it, worked it, then called me the next day to refund my money and passport. They both said I'm still waved from overstay fees but just can't get a new Visa. So after my son is born and paperwork done, Off to the US I go to get my new visa and two Pfizer shots. the only thing I and My wife are worried about is a shakedown at the airport. The visa shop's word isn't going to hold much wight with Immigration police if they have my nuts in a vice. So, I guess I will try to get an exit visa or some kind of paperwork with the nice red stamp on it.
Uh oh!....you actually went into overstay before travel restrictions were introduced. You could have managed to convert your T-type Visa to an E-type Visa the old fashioned way in February. Oh well, no point dwelling on what you coulda, shoulda, woulda done.
If I were you, I would be prepared for a shakedown to pay overstay fines when you attempt to leave, because the automatic granting of extensions and waiver of overstay fines only applies to those who entered the country from 1st Jan 2020.
I would suggest dealing with this before you rock up to the airport for your flight, go to the DoI Visa Office with wife and baby in tow a week prior to your departure to apply for an Exit Visa and plead ignorance, hopefully for your sake the DoI will show some leniency towards you, maybe they'll only charge you for the initial overstay before the exemption was announced.

That's the same thing my wife's sister said, Also use the word sorry a lot. I'm going to Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. 5K is still better then being banned for god knows how long and maybe some time in immigration jail. As I already know only the sunrise and sunset are free here. But, I did save 20% on my flight so I got that going.

McJonny it is refreshing to see someone with such a great attitude about all this, so refreshing to see, fair play to you Here's hoping you only get slapped with minimal, if any, overstay fines.
I see so many people trying to shift the blame for getting themselves into situations like this and crying about having to pay overstay fines being "not fair" rather than "owning it".

Or like this useless moron, complaining how unfair it is he had to jump through hoops and pay the fees when others who were stranded got a free pass of sorts.

Why would it bother you at all? I've always made sure my paperwork was in order. However situations arise where people have become stuck in a limbo. This is a mechanism to allow these people to become legit. I'm surprised they gave such a huge leeway but that's Khmer hospitality for you.boing wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 1:17 pmWhat a load of bullshit

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Well good ending to the story. My son came early. He is now one month old. Getting past the checkpoints was kind of fun. The PassApp we took would pull up with cops screaming at us. The wife would step out with wet dress and big belly. The screaming turned to smiles and waves then off we would go. Had to shop around a bit for the birth paperwork but got it done. Immigration was very understanding and we worked out a far deal. All and all life is good for this new dad.
