Hello.
I'm married to Khmer living abroad for 15 years,
Her 2 brother in Cambodia had good jobs/tourism , but now out of work.
Both married with kids. The money has dried up and they are begging us to help but sorry I/We dont have money to send. I kinda feel bad,
Anyways, question is, Are any of you guys living aboard/in Cambodia having such requests?
Money Requests From Wife Family?
Yes. Some I discount immediately as you can't help the whole world and a few I have responded to as I believe they are genuinely in dire straits. None has been anyone close to meMerlot wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 12:37 pmHello.

Yes. 2 brothers + 2 wifes + 4 kids.
Hard.
I am retired with not a big nest egg for my wife /myself to live on.

No requests here, but I've arranged a western income for the wife so she manages her 9wn budget and can support her younger sister studying in pp and occasionally some other relatives.
logos. may I ask how much is a western income and what is 9wn budget. Thanks.
Not from the wife's family, but from bargirls I'm friends with on Facebook but barely know.
I bet if you looked at every item you purchased every day [ for the last 15 years ] you would find you could do without many of them. You are probably living a much higher lifestyle now than if you were in Cambodia, and being retired does not mean you cannot earn a few extra dollars to send to your wife's family.Merlot wrote: ↑Mon May 24, 2021 12:37 pmHello.

Right now I live a very frugal lifestyle, and yet dont miss any of the luxuries you would associate with a western lifestyle. I am retired and I send well over USA $1000 every month to Cambodia for several families. As they say, money was made round to go around and you cannot take it with you when you die.

But that's your choice, quit being so judgemental about the lifestyle you imagine other people have.
I am, not getting any requests . I am seding money sporadically by choice. Covid has fucked my Cambodian families earnings and they re all hurting.

Things are far less complicated with such matters, if that is the case.
