Hi! This is my first post to the forum and very happy to have found such a great site for a TON of information, much of which is honestly almost overwhelming amounts of information. Either way, it's very useful, and thus leads me to my first post and question I'm sure has been answered recently by someone way down in the pages.
I currently live in the United States, and I plan to move to Siem Reap, Cambodia this year, (Although unsure if Phnom Penh is a better option for my question.) But I am curious on the current status of work opportunities for in-person school in Siem Reap specifically. I am 26, I have previously taught in Vietnam, have my 160 hour TEFL certification, and as a U.S citizen, I feel like I should have good opportunities to continue to find a teaching position in Cambodia.
I want to know if I were to plan on leaving this late summer, this year, how the job market looks, (and just how it looks right now for those currently teaching) in terms of long term visa opportunities, and salaries. Can I still expect to make a decent salary, post covid situation? Or how much can I expect to make monthly from schools, (provided they're open.) Also, do U.S citizens, or anyone for that matter can apply for a long term visa online or in country? I believe the visa is called an, "E type visa" if that rings a bell to anyone.
Any information helps, and specifically to those living in Cambodia, in Siem Reap currently teaching. Thanks!
Teaching/Visa Opportunities U.S Citizens
No idea about getting a job as a TEFLer, but Visa wise...
As it currently stands, the issuing of ALL Visas on Arrival remains suspended, the only way to obtain the E-type (Ordinary) Visa, which you will require, is in advance from a Cambodian Embassy/Consulate, in your case that will be the Embassy in DC.
The criteria for issuing of E-type Visas varies from Embassy to Embassy, most, including the Embassy in DC, require business/employment related supporting documentation from a registered Cambodian company... however there are some which require little to no supporting documentation, the Honorary Consulate in Canada being one such example

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

I've seen a lot of advertisements looking for teachers recently. Getting here in the first place is the problem. As far as locations go there are far more schools in the capital.

Wouldn't fancy sucking on a crystal meth pipe, whilst all this Covid is still around.
