After multiple attempts at getting spelling mistakes corrected finally lodged and paid for my daughters Khmer Passport yesterday.
Was filling out my daughters Australian Citizenship documents today and realised that the Sangat had ( for what ever reason ) reissued the Carnet of residence and it contained a spelling mistake in my daughters name, which was later copied onto her Khmer passport application.
End result is her Khmer passport will be issued with a spelling mistake in the English translation of her name.
Has anyone had experience in correcting a spelling error on a passport ? Or do I just give them the passport back and tell them to cancel it and then reapply.
Need to cancel Khmer passport and reissue

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

Its annoying for sure
But is it worth going through the whole process again, or is it a mistake you/she can live with

I don't know if the spelling mistake will stop her using the passport to leave and renter Cambodia.
Her first name is Leilin, however on the passport it will be spelt Lielin.
As a minor, what other documentation apart from a passport is required for her to leave Cambodia?.
It may at a later date cause confusion with visa opplications, I'll just have to wait and see.
Chances are I'll just leave it as it is and just make sure her Australian passport is correct and that the original paperwork, which I have copies of, is used in the application. I'll get a K visa in her Australian passport so she can come and go as required.

These mistakes are so common it's tempting to think it's an extra revenue raiser.
Anyway, personally I'd think having an error in a passport is bound to cause problems somewhere down the line.

If you meet some of the guys who are working in sangkat offices - people who have got the job just because of a family connection, not because of any aptitude. People who know that they can be as careless as they feel like, work as little as they want and they are still safe in their jobs.
Attention to detail is not a particularly strong habit for locals never mind people being in jobs that they just aren’t suited for, nor have an interest in.
Maybe some is a revenue raiser - but I think most is just pure carelessness.
