Since moving here I’ve found myself indoors almost all the time. At first I thought I’d be regularly walking or running the Riverside path, but I get hassled way too often there that it’s not a relaxing way to spend my time.
Anyone got suggestions for outdoor activities in the city? Exercise is optional, I just want to be somewhere that isn’t my apartment or a shopping mall.

Who hassles you on the riverside? Tell them to fuck off.

It’s never anything bad like you might get from chavs back home, just the usual people selling shit or wanting money or wanting me to go on their boat or tuktuk or whatever.Lucky Lucan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 2:15 pmWho hassles you on the riverside? Tell them to fuck off.
Harmless enough, but it does mean it’s not a great way to relax and let my guard down. Makes me self-conscious, you know?
I've never been bothered while running that stretch.
For a walk, maybe go to Diamond Island and walk the new boardwalk that goes around it. You can also stop in at Coconut Park or Trellion Park for an outdoor beer.
Safety in numbers can be found with Running Bongs, various Hashes (drinking club with running problem). They walk too. Or, PP athletics club, although they may be a not hardcore. All searchable on Facebook. There are various cycling clubs too and, I expect, groups for most sports.
The afternoon rains aren't helping but the early morning is a good time to get out. Few will bother you between 5 and 6 am.

There are fewer beggars at Koh Pich
There is also a southern extension to the boulevard being built south of Koh Pich
I've never seen cyclists being harassed, get a bicycle

This is where malls get really interesting. Unlike in the United States where some have perished into oblivion, I believe the whole concept of self-contained indoor environments becomes valuable in the long run for personal recreation in the harsh urban environment often found in and around highly populated areas.

If you get the ferry from near NagaWorld 1 to Arey Ksat it's quite chilled on that far bank of the Mekong.

Yes, it's a nice area there and only 15 minutes on the ferry. The Sunday Hash will run there this afternoon.
