Pity as I was dreaming of a Gadaffi chat show.
Dictated to a slave and sent by carrier pigeon.

Bye bye old chap.
Not sure if he's being kicked here, they all seem really excited.

He was caught alive, pleading "Don't shoot". Now mysteriously deceased. One son also caught alive, now dead. Other one will be soon. Obviously can't be arsed with the machinations of the judiciary system, these Libyans.
I came, I argued, I'm out

You can't really blame them. The turn the other cheek idea is nice, but when you have suffered for decades, justice is justice.andyinasia wrote:He was caught alive, pleading "Don't shoot". I don't dispute that; however, what I find very curious is the collective response of World Leaders, UN etc etc. Amongst all these talking heads, to a last one schooled in the dark arts of PR, not one is even mentioning the elephant in the room - that Gaddafi and his son were caught alive and unarmed, and were murdered in cold blood. They're quick enough to prattle on about rule of law, international tribunals etc when it suits them, then look the other way when it doesn't. Next they'll be feeding us bullshit about a new dawn of freedom and democracy for Libya - what you say? They have already? Oh.ChicagoGuy wrote:You can't really blame them. Does anyone here seriously believe that his replacement will be any better? When I saw all those pictures of black "mercenaries" with cable-ties around their limbs, and big bloody holes in the back of their skulls, my faith in the new crowd started to waver, no matter how many munitions NATO had already lent the "freedom fighters".ChicagoGuy wrote:You can't really blame them. Past is prologue for this type of unfortunate foreign policy. The West (read: the US under Reagan and the UK under Thatcher) supported the mujahideen, who were the fathers of the modern day al Qaeda. Countless other examples of supporting groups who went on to become even worse than the tyrants they replaced (the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, hell, the US even provided financial support for Khmer Rouge guerrillas to overthrown Hun Sen because he was backed by communist Vietnam).
I'm not advocating an isolationist policy, but let the people of the country overthrow their leaders their own way. Then we won't be on the hook for years about who we did or did not support.

Nice idea, but Brent is currently trading at about $110 and Libya provides 10% of European supplies. We needed this sorted quickly and we need someone friendly (and preferably grateful) in charge. I've just paid the equivalent of $8.20 per US gallon for diesel.

Who is this we you're refering to? I certainly didn't need this sorting quickly. Grateful for what?
The West has an amazing record when it comes to supporting uprisings in the Middle East. Iran anyone? Hasn't that worked out well.
He had a good run for his money, I like the way he used to camp when he visited the UN in New York. That really pissed off Fox news.
