Where would you live if you had to leave Cambodia?
As I was wandering the streets of Reykjavik muttering to myself last week, I thought "I could live here." I liked the fact that people spoke English, there were cool bars, there were diners and other informal restaurants serving familiar food, the streets are clean and safe. It seems like a nice place to live, yet it still has "character." Now, I might feel totally different if I had visited in January, with freezing temperatures and 19 hours of darkness.
But let's say you couldn't live in Cambodia anymore, and you didn't want to go back to your home country? Where would you go? You can't pick Thailand, that's too easy. If I had to pick a few places to live other than the U.S. and Cambodia, they might be:
1. Reykjavik
2. Antigua, Guatemala
3. Ireland
4. uhhh, Bangkok

Vietnam, as long as I can dodge the military training month for Northern school kids. Also if I can dodge the non party members who get pissed when I take a non-anti party stance as a foreigner.
Turkey up until last week.
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan until winter.

If I had to leave Cambodia for any reason, I'd probably choose a place far far away, but then again how far can you really get from the nearest Thai restaurant.

Cambodia is a rare place, there are many countries that are amazing when you first arrive but the longer you stay the more they grind you down (I put Thailand in this category). Cambodia is one of the weird ones that when you first arrive it seems 'okay' at best but the longer you stay the more addicted you get.
I think some of the best countries (like Cambodia) will be less obvious.

Visas for Georgia & Tanzania are easy as pie---never been to either---Any insight on these?
Maybe I'd go bushwhack for gold in Papua/New Guinea.
Other considerations: Portugal, Morocco, Japan, Puerto Rico, Hawaii (the unState).
