Might be weird to live in a country whose name you can't spell
Where would you live if you had to leave Cambodia?

Never mind.
Yes, seriously, not trying to wind you up here.cambod wrote:Seriously?Alex wrote:Kuala Lumpur
Countless short stays aside, I spent three months in a row in KL a couple of years ago, and I found it very pleasant in many ways.
So, yes, I could definitely imagine to stay there for a longer time (as in: years).
If I could neither live in Bangkok nor in Phnom Penh, as per Gavinmac's question, in South-East Asia my 1st choice would be HCMC and my 2nd choice KL. If feeling adventurous at that time, I might also give Indonesia a shot (I can see why you and others like Indonesia, but I haven't had an opportunity for a longer stay yet). Or I might just want to leave Asia altogether, for a change of zoo, and spend some time in Latin America, that's why I mentioned Buenos Aires as well.

Yangon shits on any of your mentioned destinations, Alex.
Chiang Rai, though, is just perfect if you like natural peace and quiet...

I've often thought of a move to Palawan. I could live in Puerto Princesa. El Nido or Tay Tay would be way too slow. No one's mentioned Belize. I could live there.RainMan wrote:1. Palawan Is. (Philippines)

Unfortunately, as much as I like places like Chiang Rai myself (I've visited many provinces in Thailand while living in Bangkok with great curiosity and I've liked what I've seen in many cases), currently I couldn't actually live there due to my work. Once I'm retired, one of Thailand's provincial capitals (or even some smaller town or village) would definitely become an option - from today's point of view, that is, I'm still much too young to dream about retirement and many things can change.Falcon Randwick wrote:Yangon shits on any of your mentioned destinations, Alex.

Yangon could soon be suitable, if Myanmar keeps opening up. Truth to be told, I don't know enough about Yangon yet, but I'd like to re-visit the city some time later this year. I haven't exactly fallen in love on previous short visits, but that doesn't mean much.
Paris, Amsterdam, Munich would do me, especially Paris.
Thank you all for the mind food.
