Where would you live if you had to leave Cambodia?
Lucan has a fantasy about being gang raped by a gang of rastas in his own house.

Uruguay is dead boring and cold and rainy. Better than Port Moresby though.

They are called Rascals, not Rastas.ken svay wrote:Lucan has a fantasy about being gang raped by a gang of rastas in his own house.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

One of the best cities in the world. But you're about 10 years too late for the expat thing.

European standards of efficiency (and still that 'getaway touch' at a stone's throw), great nosh, idyllic scenery & history, superb beaches, cheap wine...and not a million miles from SE Asia should one get the urge to return 'home' pronto.
There are God knows how many islands to explore from Piraeus and other ports:

If it's good enough for the Gods, it might just be good enough for us!

Greece ? maybe, if the airport staff isn't on strike, if taxis aren't on strike to block all roads, and if you like olives as a staple food.
At least they shut down state TV, that's a plus for any country.

You bloody fool, you are on the right track. It will be cheap as chips there forever thanks to the shovking governence.I was last there in 1972 and it was lovely, I loved the history of rome and greece.I was a bit of a latin scholar once.
The Greek islands are very nice. I was reading an article recently on Ikaria, the island of long life. Lots of very fit, very old people. Something there must be working. One old geezer put it down to herbal tea, afternoon naps and lots of sex.
Greek is more useful than Latin in Greece though...ken svay wrote:You bloody fool, you are on the right track. It will be cheap as chips there forever thanks to the shovking governence.I was last there in 1972 and it was lovely, I loved the history of rome and greece.I was a bit of a latin scholar once.
At Ken Svay's age, it no longer matters which one you forgot

I've followed this thread since the beginning and it's interesting to see the responses. I would probably choose some place in Eastern Europe. Russia, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine... I don't mind the cold as some softy Brits do.
