Malaysia airliner crashes in Ukraine - reports
Apparently, about 100 AIDS researchers were on board MH17 en route to a global conference on AIDS in Australia, including a key HIV researcher who has been instrumental in research on prevention of mother-to-child transmission.

Pretty obvious at this point that it was quick trigger-finger rebels thinking it was a Ukrainian Transport Plane and shooting it down. In fact, that's what they thought they'd done and already had reported it as such. This just shows what is obvious, that you should not entrust high tech military equipment like the Buk missile batteries the rebels captured to a bunch of untrained rebels. The plane was probably not where it should have been, but should have been obviously a civilian plane to trained observers.

Good report from CNN, something like this:Jacked Camry wrote:This just shows what is obvious, that you should not entrust high tech military equipment like the Buk missile batteries the rebels captured to a bunch of untrained rebels. There was flight ban 32000feet, MH17 was at 33000feet. In Afganistan war commercial planes went through war area at 35000feet, because they know afgans didn't have land to air missiles for so far.
In Ukraine they think same, but russians have been given these weapons for militants...
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.

That's probably why Putin gave the order to fire. He was worried that the researchers might find a cure for HIV and save the lives of gay men.Joon wrote:Apparently, about 100 AIDS researchers were on board MH17 en route to a global conference on AIDS in Australia...

It could also be a Ukrainian fighter jet that mistook Malaysian airways colors for a Russian plane and was trigger happy to avenge the recent shooting down of several planes... I would believe the chain of command in Russian army is tighter than the Ukrainian's one after many months of turmoil.
I very much doubt the rebels have such elaborate weaponry (several high-tech trucks and qualified operators needed), that are part of well organized armies only.

It seems they stormed a Ukrainian military base in the region and captured it. So they had the hardware but lacked the technical expertise to identify targets, and no well-organised command structure. It seems pretty clear to me - no MH370 mystery this time.Barang_doa_slae wrote: I very much doubt the rebels have such elaborate weaponry (several high-tech trucks and qualified operators needed), that are part of well organized armies only.

Do you think Putin just had a Clinton - ''I did not have sexual relations with that woman'' global TV moment ? Those Buk missile launchers look very high tech. I can't imagine separatist rebels just rolling up at a military compound and saying ''Can i have a go with one of those without any monitoring''. I bet those Buk launchers every movement is constantly monitored by someone high up.

i am not so sure a trained observers would know, when i was trained in a few different types of SAM missiles, before we fired we had to satisfy a few positives,a aircraft at that height would not be visible to the eye,so you proberly only have a radar blip to go on,sure you may know the height and speed but the type of aircraft? the missiles i used had a coded system to communicate with a friendly aircraft,so as to ID them but a civilian aircraft would not have the proper code,i read somewhere the aircraft was in a mountain area so the actual missiles may have been a few 1000 ft above the sea level,so maybe the actual distance from the ground to aircraft was closer to 30000ft.also if the aircraft did vary from its flight path than the operator may have mistaken it for a military.so maybe we should just wait and see what transpires.Jacked Camry wrote:Pretty obvious at this point that it was quick trigger-finger rebels thinking it was a Ukrainian Transport Plane and shooting it down. Oops.
I hope the deploy a Seal team and Obama is kicking Putin's disembodied head around the Oval Office. Too fantastic, but I can see someone blasting his favourite terrorist rebels to a fine ash.
