Child sex pervert father of abandoned Down syndrome twin met wife through Chinese mail order bride agency... and Thai surrogate mother says she wants daughter back as he's a criminal
The Bunbury Mail has named the parents as David and Wendy Farnell
Farnell was jailed in the late 1990s for sexually molesting two girls under the age of 10
It has also emerged Farnell met his second wife via Zhanjiang Happy Marriage Agency in 2004
In 1998 he was charged with six counts of indecently dealing with a child under the age of 13 and was convicted and sentenced again
Child safety officials dropped by on Tuesday, asking the couple to meet with them
Sex offenders in WA who have surrogate children are dealt with on a case by case basis, surrogacy lawyer says
Baby Gammy's Thai surrogate mother, Pattaramon Janbua, said she wanted the baby back if Farnell's history was true
The parents at the centre of the baby Gammy surrogacy scandal met through an agency that organises mail-order brides.
The Bunbury Mail has named the couple who allegedly gave up the six-month-old because he had Down syndrome as West Australian couple David and Wendy Farnell.
It has also emerged David Farnell is a convicted child sex offender, and officials from the state's Department of Child Protection and Family Support left a note at the couple's home on Tuesday night asking them to arrange a meeting with the department.
It has also been revealed Farnell met his second wife Wendy - nee Li - through Zhanjiang Happy Marriage Agency.
According to dating website Qpid Success, Farnell married Ms Farnell just eight months after they met.
'David and Miss Li were very responsible and sincere to their marriage,' it said.
'In order to know more about the lady, David came to Jianjiang on 22nd June of 2004 for their meeting and interaction.
'They decided to get married on 11th July in China.
'When the man came again in October of 2004, they held their wedding on 24th October of 2004.'
....
It has also been revealed the Australian father is a convicted child sex offender.
Farnell abused at least three girls under the age of 13, court documents show.
Thai surrogate mother Pattharamon Janbua, who is now caring for Gammy, accused the couple of only taking his healthy twin sister back home to WA.
Earlier this week, the couple denied knowing of six-month-old Gammy's existence and said they only had a baby girl.
The WA Department of Child Protection are now investigating the couple because of the father's criminal past.
Farnell's wife has confirmed her husband had a conviction but she believes he is a good man.
But Ms Janbua - who was paid a total of $16,000 to carry the Farnells' children - has told the Seven Network: 'If the father is an offender I want my daughter back.'

And the Australian powers that be let him bring back a kid from a surrogate mother? The mind boggles.

I'm not racist, but...
The Thais are getting a lot of bad press over these surrogacy clinics. They really need to nip this in the bud.

There might be one positive thing to come out of this whole terrible mess...........It will really make it hard for cashed up Australian pillow biters and dick dodgers to just go and purchase a child to complete the...unnatural picture. Now that the light is shinning brightly on this dark corner of semi-legal child trafficking business . As always its the kids that lose in the end in some way.
Don't mention the Giant Panda in the room.

Just watched an interview of the couple of 60 Minutes. They're claiming that the surrogate tried to keep both babies and and that they literally ran off with the one they could as "fighting erupted in the streets".
Seems a tad harsh to pass Thailand off as a war zone....

I am watching the 60 minutes interview at the moment.
I do not believe the parents story one little bit.
And I am a trusting soul who would not put anything past the Thais.
Great acting but that is it. Actions speak louder than words.

Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
That scandal just stomps on morals and ethics and throws them out of the window properly.
I can't believe all the chain links that are just wrong in this story. In the end, the only innocent victims are the babies.
